I don't like it when people mendle with the dead. I don't care if it's a King or a slave they should be left in peace or cremated. Obviously they wouldn't want to cremate him but still, I don't think he likes his resting place being disturbed. How disrespectful..

In some cultures, you will find the very thing very disrespectful because they have too much belief about their departed loved ones. But let us face it, a dead body (even if it is a mummified remains of a king) is just a dead body. It has no life, the previous owner of the body wouldn't care less about it. Definitely, you won't hear King Tut complain about being in display, don't you think?

I respect the people who were left behind by some one who passed away. I know their grief since I, myself, lost my grandmother not more than two weeks ago. I loved my grandma but I wouldn't care about what happens to her lifeless body anymore. Let's be realistic, a dead body is nothing more than a empty shell. If people would benefit from my lifeless body, well then I am all for it... as long as they experiment on me once that I am really dead.

I think King Tut is getting a lot more respect from people than he ever did before his body was discovered. Not that he probably cares at this point.
If less principled people had located his tomb, it would have been looted and the body dumped, as with probably thousands of other rich Egyptians of the past. So, if you think the present situation is not ideal, it still may be better than leaving the tomb alone after discovering it.
Anyway, we know what a dead body is like; but it is enlightening for us to see the manner in which it was treated by its contemporaries.

I just read the article about it. They did it to keep him from turning to dust. They placed him inside some sort of glass, environmentally controlled box. It turns out that all the people visiting his tomb is causing the humidity to rise higher than normal and it is causing the body to disintigrate. Some scientist just spent 2 years reconstructing his face because it was torn up when they pulled off his golden mask. So on the one hand, I can see why they want to protect him, but on the other hand, I do feel like it is disrespectful to be poking and prodding at this poor guy.

I'm not too happy about it either. What they could do is photograph everything, and then reconstruct an exact replica using modern technology. Then place his body back into the coffin, and seal it off.

I think they absolutely have to do a quick study of him (can't pass up that chance, no way) but then lay him back to rest.

Oh, lets make sure Christians, Atheists, or NO OTHER religion has a damn say about any of it -- with the possible exception of someone knowledgeable about Ancient Egyptian funeral rights.

Yeah, that's pretty disrespectful to do that to someone's body, especially when he clearly didn't want it to be disturbed. They had to really search to find the tomb. Supposedly, a lot of the people who found King Tut fell sick and died shortly afterwards.

It's disrespectful and ethnocentric - white Euro-Americans think only their ancestors deserve to rest in peace.

The Native American community has been fighting the looting of non-anglo graves for years.

I saw that on TV today and i agree with you so much it ain't funny, to show him off like that is so disgraceful makes me want to cry. There is no peace for the dead and mummy's are treated no better than a piece of wood, to bad the cruse of the mummy is not real they should be hit with it.

His body was found a long time ago by Howard Carter. Carter cut it up into sixteen pieces to get the jewelry off. It has just gone on display.

i kinda gree to judo chop. ur body is jsut a vessile for ur soul, but on teh other hand i believe it is a mystery peopl want to solve but maybe the mystery was meant to stay a mystery, something for writers to create their own theories about and peole to dream up crazy ideas about. But scientists, always gotta know everything.... *sighs*.......

I want my body thrown to the bears.
I'm pretty sure that he wanted to be left alone, we should respect that.
It's like taking a crap on the ancient Egyptians...not cool.
