It is really warm and i had been running it for about two hours...
Is standing it verically better? Any ideas...

Just make sure your PS3 has at least 4 inches of space on all sides, and do not have it on carpet, or in a glass case/closed entertainment center.
The air coming out of the PS3 should be hot, because the PS3 generates allot of heat from the cell processor's power, do not worry and DON'T buy an intercooler. Intercoolers will void your warranty and damage the PS3's built in cooling system.

Im not sure if they sell fans that you plug into the ps3 but if they have those like they do for the 360 you could buy one of those small fans. or maybe use a portable fan and place it near your ps3.
It doesnt matter which way you lay it. Verticle or horizontal it doesn't matter. but obviously it was ment to be horizontal like a DVD player but it really doesn't matter. You can lay it both ways.
Also to improve the lifespan. try not to let dust get into the the openings when it releases the heat such as where the faninside is ect. you also dont want moisture to get into it. if your hose has alot of moisture you can buy a portable de-humidifyier. i dont knwo how to spell it. sorry. but they are made by whirlpool. im sure other brands make them too. but they might cost you around 100 dollars though. Also dont place your PS3 in small areas where it wont get air to breath.

Coolers aren't goof for PS3 - it has a very good cooling system inside - just place it in well ventilated place.
