July is a fine time to visit New York -- many native New Yorkers flee to the Hamptons, thereby enabling you to more easily obtain reservations at impossible-to-get-into restaurants, great seats for Broadway shows, and the like.

What's more, there are attractions galore that are best seen in the summer: Central Park, the Bronx Zoo, and FREE outdoor movies in Bryant Park on Monday nights (a NYC phenomenon!).

The weather can be humid (though it's much better than August), but there are plenty of backup plans: World-class museums like the Metropolitan, the Museum of Modern Art and the Frick Collection; and also the likes of the Empire State Building observatory, tours of the United Nations and Madame Tussaud's.

Have a great trip!

It is good, although I always find New York more romantic and beautiful during the winter, specially december.
July also is very hot and humid so be aware... Also most of New Yorkers get out of the city on the weekends, so the city becomes a bit slower, but still fun!

July can be hot and humid as the streets and buildings really hold in the heat. Generally not as crowded with tourists but still very busy! Sinc ethe city is such a great place for walking - heat and humidity can be problematic. Try late fall or early spring for exploring!

I dont know about July, but I was there in Aug. It was humid. I live up north, so there is no way I wanted to go in the winter. I think July is just fine, as long as you bring plenty of water. Also, NYC has a lack of public bathrooms.

well, it can be hot. Otherwise school is out so the trains are a little less crowded. Plus there is much more to do. All sorts of river to river festivals, free concerts in central park at night.

Check out www.nycvisit.com They are the official NYC tourism site and have an really good events calander and list hotels, travel tips etc.
Also look at www.mta.info to familiarize yourself with the subway system (NYC Transit.)

Pro: Lots of concerts. 4th of July celebration and sales. New big screen movies.

Con: Temperature gets warmer but its comfortable for most. Some even prefer it this way.

as long as you can visit when it's not humid, it will be just fine. the heat is not anywhere as unbearable as the humidity.
