do not take you pup to the groomer! he/she doesn't have all vaccines yet and is VERY susceptible to distemper (a common disease). distemper is like a cold in humans. except DHPP (distemper) can possibly kill a dog if not treated. wait till all vaccines are given, then two weeks from the last set of vaccines are given, then take him/her to the groomer.

o ok. saw your update.....<

I am a groomer and I would charge $25 for this . Petsmart and some of the large chain stores charge $30 -$40. SO check around and ask for references from friends and co workers Some groomers are not very nice to your pet so price isn't always the issue. I would pay more to know my dog is safe and sound while I am gone . I would check out the shop and if it doesn't smell good and look clean and there is allot of commotion and the groomer seems stressed, Leave .I have taken so many in after a bad experience at a groomer. It takes a long time to get them to come around .SO happy hunting .Good luck .

It really depends. Everyone's definition of puppy clip seems to be different. But if you're looking for something that leaves your dog a bit longer a fluffier it'd probably be between 40 and 60 (Canadian prices).

But, for the first trip to the groomers I would NOT recomment trying to get a full haircut done on your dog. Start out with your basic bath and tidy so that your puppy has the change to get used to the idea of grooming, and lets the groomer decide if it'd even be possible to get a cut finished. Young pups can be extremely difficult to do and can become stressed very easily. A squirmy or frightened dog is a dog that can get cut, so any good groomer wouldn't push.

I have a Yorkie that I keep in a puppy cut so I have to get him clipped every 6 to 7 weeks. It could get kinda pricey if I used groomers in the stores.

My advice to you is to shop around. I found a very nice local lady that grooms independently of a store. She only charges $20 for everything - hair cut, nail trim, bath, blow dry, and expelling all the weird glands. Some of the stores are really expensive!! And at the stores you have to leave your dog with them for three hours. They put your dog in a cage in the back room while they arent working on him. This lady lets me stay there while she tends to my dog. It takes 20 minutes and then we're all done.

I go by size as well as how you want it cut at my shop. If it is 10 lbs or under the first cut would be around 25.00 , and there after it would be around 30.00. This includes bath, nail clipping,bows/polish (if you want it) and the haircut.
