When I right click on my computer and choose 'explore' then right click on Drive C,then right click, one of the options is 'format'.
Is it really that easy to do?
My first computer was a nightmare to reformat, have they really simplified things? I am scared to try it!

Don't reformat from windows...your PC vendor should have provided a recovery tool that gives you a couple options to restore the OS: 1) restore OS leaving data or 2) reformat and reinstall the OS, loosing all your data...doing a format from Windows is like someone pulling the rug out from under you while you are standing on it...be careful. Also, if you don't have the Windows XP recovery disk and license key, the reformat may leave you with a new door stop...

Ummm, formatting your hard disk was so easy even back in the DOS days that it could be done quite by accident. It's never been difficult. The Format you've tripped over is the same thing: it just wipes out the hard disk.

Are you sure you don't mean reinstalling XP from CDs or the Recovery Partition? That's still a pain to be avoided at all costs.

Hope that helps.

Hey I am not literate, but when I have a problem I do the "system restor" and there is also an option where you can have the files and stuiff condensed and that give a bunch of extra space. If this helps and you cannot find the condensing deal e-mail me and and I'll find it. If this doesn't help oh well. Take care.

If you do that, the drive will be wiped out!
Everything!

You will have to reinstall Windows and everything else you have on there now.

*I* prefer to use an Imaging Solution instead of formatting - except in extreme cases.

Imaging makes an exact copy of the drive that you store in a safe place.
If something "Bad" happens, you replace that image - minutes instead of hours/days reinstalling everything.

Do a search for:
HDD Imaging
