If so, isn't that at least something to take heart in?

Far from being a distraction, the Religious Right’s relentless attack on homosexuality, and same sex marriages in particular, is only one facet of their attack on joy. If the attack on human joy is the war, then their demonizing of homosexuality is one of their integral battles, not a distraction at all. They still rail against heterosexual promiscuity, condom use, innocuous recreational drug use, “non-Christian” entertainment, and global peace.

As George H. Smith puts it, in his characteristically eloquent style: “Christianity has nothing to offer a happy man living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action.”

It is odd that these people like to call themselves Christians, and yet their Christ spent very little time on human sexuality, and was absolutely mute about homosexual relations. His moral admonishments were more concerned with rooting out self-righteousness and increasing magnanimity in this world.

It seems that these CHRISTians don’t derive much of their ideology at all from Christ as they do from Paul and Old Testament rules.

I think you may be on to something. Have you noticed that they hardly complain at all anymore about our promiscuous ways, unless they're talking about teenagers? Lol :)

(Awesome question, Dude!)

Maybe it was because they found out many of their leaders were gay.

I'm not focused on homosexuality. I know it is wrong and if you ask me, I will tell you so.

So "joy" is your word for sin, right? Your problem is with God's judgment, my friend, not us fundies.
