www.petfinder.com and adopt a golden retriver pup cost $50-200
or a repuatable breeder cost about $900-2000+
Never buy from a petstore ,or a back yard breeder.
Heres some for adoption near you:

and heres a golden rescue http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/CA374.html

If you want a nicely bred dog, there are several ways to go. One way is to go here:

http://www.akc.org/events/search/

and look for events in your area in the months ahead. I would go to a dog show where the breed is represented and talk to breeders about litters including the cost of puppies.

The actual cost of the puppy is relatively low in comparison to vet bills, food, upkeep, tools, etc over his or her lifetime. Putting together the dog, the things (crate, leashes, bowls, etc.), vet bills, food, etc. can easily run more than $1500 for the first year.

I know that you want a pure breed golden retriever, but you really should consider going to your local animal shelter to adopt an old fashioned American Mutt (mix breed) Most shelters will let you adopt after a brief interview. The cost usually is under $150 which usually includes; spaying or neutering, first shots, and a pet finder chip implanted under their skin near their neck
