Christians: how do you overcome self-condemnation?

I am looking for a Bible based answer, and any drawn verses from it are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Where i am and who am becoming hates who i have been. I have let go of many things i used to do however, i now have problems deciding how to go about making decisions on what to do. I try to make choices but then i get thoughts of what i did in the past and then try not to do the same again but then get stuck. I find this kind of stupid to ask but I've been in this situation for a few month now and i still can't come up with a choice or a decision.

The story of the prodigal son applies to everyone. Each one of us is lost until God finds us. Those who personally came to know Him did not choose him. He chose them - though not every one whose door He knocks on opens up. He didn't come to condemn you, but to show you the Way to reconcile with Him. Even though the son was still far off, the father in the story was already running out to welcome him back. He was so happy he declared a celebration for his son's return. Notice how there was no mention of his sin by the father except only by the bitter brother? That's how God is. Always waiting silently in the guest room of your house, whether you care enough to peek inside or not. he is always waiting for you to talk with Him.

Only those who die in their sins are condemned, not the living. For the living there is always a chance to accept forgiveness. The first step therefore is not with God, but with you. You must first forgive yourself.

Sweety, I too can not believe who I used to be ! A pot smoking, tequila drinking shy but hardass welder. Well that was over 22 years ago and I have changed ! Becoming disabled probobly saved my soul. Have you read the whole book ? Try it and take notes along the way. We were perfectly made in the eyes of the lord but have been soiled by life ! We are not to judge, that includes ourself ! But Jesus loves me anyway !

Romans 8:1, There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. If you believe in Christ and are doing his will then only the devil can be making you feel guilty about your past, You can defeat him by asking Jesus to take away your guilt and set you free and he will if you believe, Choose to believe that Jesus is who he says he is. Sometimes even Christians struggle with that. Say a Prayer and Jesus washes it away, its that simple.
Draw nigh unto God and he will draw nigh unto you, Praise the Lord!!

Take all your cares to the Lord. Once you are saved you are forgiven. Going back into self-condemnation, is a trick of satan to make you want to give up God. He wants you to believe you are not really saved. He is a liar, and father of lies. Jesus refers to him as such.

Really strive to do right. When you stumble, go to God and tell Him you are sorry for-------. He will pick you up, wipe the dust from you, and put you under His wing to protect you.

We all sin. Anyone who says they don't are a liar. That's in the Bible. It's your real desire to keep your eyes on God, and desire Him in your heart.

Just keep looking to God, through Jesus, and His Holy Spirit will guide you.
