In the winter months when the weather is just starting to get really cold I break out in giant hives and I have pain all over like the flu. I was just wondering if this could possibly be fibromyalgia because it lasts the whole winter and being 35 the doctor said I am too young for arthritis. I also have the pains in the summer too for at least a month but mainly they are in the winter months. I also have a lot of other symptoms of fibromyalgia like I was diagnosed with TMJ and I wake up several times at night and get very little rest, my eyes are dry and just a lot of the other symptoms of fibromyalgia. How do I get the doctor to check for this? What kind of tests will he do?

first of all you have to find a dr. that either believes in fibromyalgia or knows something about it, this could be quite a pain in itself. Second write down on a paper everylast one of your symptoms and take with you because you don't want to have brain fog at the drs. third, never let a dr. tell you you are to young to get something! you are never to young to get anything. Many of us have fibro. a lot more then they are willing to say. There are supposedly 18 points on your body they check for pain and such, I have all 18, but they are finding out a lot more about the crummy disease. Just type fibromyalgia on the web you will get lots of info, there are plenty of support groups on the web you can join to learn more. I will give you the best one around, these women and 2 men that never talk, will welcome you with open arms, you will get info til you are blue in the face. the group is on yahoo groups and it is called CopeWithFibro check it out. Hope I was some help.

Talk to a different doctor. 35 is NOT too young for arthritis, though it is rare.

I don't really know what kinds of tests would be run to detect fybromyalgia. But a doctor who is knowledgeable about the condition could tell you.

Feel better, and good luck!
