Isnt that stupid, so much of of equal rights but we dont see women being drafted to war...

I'll admit, we see nowadays that women are more educated than men (meaning they are more women in college than men)....yet we see more men working in a job than women......

I really dont see why women dont get to go to war, I think there should pass a law that both men and women should both be drafted equally......-_-

Sounds to me like you're scared of a woman with a gun or your a member of the Taliban. What your wife, girfriend, sister, or mother put you in your place?

Ok. First of all, military service in the US is voluntary for both genders. No draft.

Second, females most certainly DO go to war. What they are not allowed to do is take on combat roles. They can be in leadership possitions, support, you name it, but not combat. Bottom line, females are not physicaly as strong as their counterparts, and it is in the best interest of those in combat that females not fill those roles. It's biology. Granted, a lot of females in the military are stronger than the average man... but not the average soldier/sailor/etc.

That's not to say that many of the possitions filled by females are not as dangerous or demanding. They just have different requirements.

Lastly, the small ratio of females to males in the services is probably due to the fact that it's just not a job that most women want, not to mention that true acceptance of females in the military is a fairly recent developement.

First of all, nobody except diplomats to Iraq are being drafted.
Second, explain to Major Tammy Duckworth that women don't go to war. You may have heard of her...she's lost both legs and the use of her right arm during her last tour of Iraq. She now heads up Veteran Affairs for the state of Ilinois.

And to the one guy, yes there is a pregancy test on the deployment line.

People are too conservative when it comes to those gender-restrictive traditions. They're so used to seeing women staying behind at the village while the men run off with their spears and wicker shields, they're unwilling to see women being conscripted or join as combat soldiers for any practical reason.

Ask them why, and you'll get a plethora of inane answers - Women need to stay behind and bear children, we're not ready as a society to see women die in combat, women can't integrate, women aren't physically capable, women can't handle the stress, men would get distracted.

Not only is each answer easy to shoot down, but they can never quite agree and get their arguments straight. It's just a cover for a perfect example of a pointless tendency to conserve solely because that's the way things have always been.

I'm all for conscripting women the next time there's a need to conscript people, letting women apply for combat positions and raising the fitness requirements women need to achieve.

I think it might be because we have hygiene issues. We get our monthly friend and being on the front lines doesn't help if we are trying to be in hiding. I am thinking.
Also what about the guys and girls trying to get it on? I mean a zillion guys and a few women?

I think we are more high maintenance that people realize we don't mean to be but that is how we are built. Hygiene wise, mental wise, and physically wise.

But buddy don't under estimate us, The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world!!!!!

They do go to war, but only as support, not actual combat. In most countries anyways. Women are not drafted because drafts tend to have combat roles in mind, and do some research if you think women should be allowed to partake in such roles.

Drafted?!?! That makes no sense. Women carry children. Do you really think that if there were a draft that they would line women up to pee in a cup then wait for pregnancy test results in the middle of a war???? Um let's see........nooooooo.

Women have the capacity to bear children. Making babies is one of the things that allows the species to continue to survive. We don't put women in harm's way any more than necessary because it's not in our best interest as a species.
