I want to say this with out coming across as an *** but why join the military if you are not willing to go to war. That's what an Army does is go to war. I'm sorry but your statement comes across like you are someone willing to draw a check with out actually having to earn it. Everyone wants to use the military for college, benefits, and housing but balk when the military ask something of them. Just an opinion from an Army Vet, take it for what it's worth.

Um there's Admin people in Iraq. there with every unit. the job's in the reserve are there to support the Active duty soldiers. there positions not needed in peace time. but jobs needed to support soldiers durring War time. there are very few jobs in the military that you wont be deployed somewhere. If you fear going to Iraq better just leave the military alone. Even the Coast Guard is in the Gulf. Iraq ia nothing to fear though.

All positions in the military can deploy at any time. As was stated by another user above, just avoid enlisting if you're afraid of war. And Iraq is something to be feared - you'll be thousands of miles from home, in a filthy sandy third world country, surrounded by people who hate you and want you to die - let's not forget that if you do die, you'll have neo-conservative maniacs protesting at your funeral and calling you a bundle of sticks.

Don't join. You don't have a clue about the military and are in no danger of adding to any bases of knowledge about it with your attitude. It isn't a sorority or a fan club. It's a "foreign country" with its own manners of dress and speech, its own gods and taboos and its own totems. And it has but two functions: blow up things and kill the enemy, so that the clueless can feel safe going to the mall.

It doesn't matter what job you have you have a chance to deploy. Read the responses from your other question. Do us the favor and not join. I don't think you could even make it thru basic.

she doesn't know that. her unit could get mobilized and she may go to iraq. reservist can't afford to think that way anymore. like i said before, if you don't want to fight you don't want to join the military.
