Put it a blank CD into your CD or DVD-Drive. Then a message will pop up click on cancel. Then go to My Computer then double-click on CD or DVD drive (D:). Copy and paste the .ppt file into the disc or folder you just opened. Look at the top left corner of the screen and click on Write these files to CD. Then click next until it has this progress bar load up. When the progress bar is full, the disc should come out automatically but if not, do it yourself.

The answers you have gotten so far are probably right, but let me caution you about a couple of things.

1) If the computer you plan to show the presentation on isn't the exact same version of Powerpoint, you may lose some of your special effects, such as animations, or even fonts, if the other computer doesn't recognize it. So be very careful about getting fancy with it, or give yourself time to preview the presentation on the other computer and make last-minute edits if needed.

2) Again, if the powerpoint presentation includes lots of graphics files and other things that take up lots of memory, you may end up either overloading the disc (so that it won't copy to the disc before it runs out of room), or overloading the computer you show it on (and crashing during your presentation). Again, give yourself plenty of lead time to test the presentation on the computer you plan to show it on just in case.

There are two other things you can do to give yourself more space to download. You can buy a thumbdrive (external harddrive) that fits into the USB port and download the Powerpoint presentation to that. It is quick & easy, and you will be sure to have enough space for the presentation. You can get thumbdrives with a good bit of storage space starting @ around $20.00 or so at any offic supply store. You can erase and add new files of all types onto this over and over and they are more durable than CD's.
You can also possibly e-mail the presentation to the computer you plan to show it on. You may have to put it in a zip file to send it without it being to large to e-mail. This is probably a last-resort option if you are down to the wire on time and don't have time to go get a zip drive & then it would be at least worth a try.

you can not burn PowerPoint to DVD directly with out third party software, because PowerPoint is not MPEG-2 Video formats which you can burn to disc directly with common burning software, you need certain software to convert your PowerPoint to MPEG-2 or that software has the function of burn PowerPoint to directly
If you search through Google, you may find so many software suggestions about PowerPoint to DVD and PPT to DVD, I don't know which one is the best solution, but I know basic features of the software should have
1. Fast to load
The program should load as quickly as possible so that the user receives a quick response after inserting the DVD into the drive or DVD player.
2. Full inform
The user should be provided with information about who created the DVD and what it contains.
3. Easy navigation
Leave it up to DVD viewers to decide which presentation they want to watch and in what order. You can also give your users the option to watch a presentation again or to skip it.
4. Conversion Speed
I know it's a long time when you are converting a large size PowerPoint. We do hope the software do things quickly and we can even minimize program to do other tasks during the process.
5. Video Quality
The Video quality I mentioned here refers to three things: Definition, Size, and Compatibility.
Definition and Size means that when you are watching your PowerPoint on TV, it should be clear enough and the video size should fit to the screen. Compatibility enables you to play the DVD on different DVD player. It is better for you to play your DVD presentation on most popular DVD Players.
for example: Acoolsoft PPT2DVD

Hope it can help you!

So far as I know Powerpoint is a data file.
I have two burners - a Samsung and a Dell.
Both require that before data files can be saved onto a CD, you must first use CD/RWs, and secondly, the CD/RW must be formatted with the software that powers the burner.

With Samsung, it is Nero.
With the Dell, it is Roxio.

Formatting a CD/RW does not take very long and is relatively easy, however, you will have to refer to your User's Guide to see how your burner does it.

Why are you using CDs for data files anyway? I started out using CD/RWs for backups and transport, until flashdrives became available. Flashdrives hold so much more and they have come way down in price. You might want to consider this.

first be sure a CD/DVD burner is installed on your computer. second a burn software will be needed. windows XP includes software to do this for you. Windows will prompt you for the files to write to it. Click save these files to disk when you're done. you can also use other more powerful burn software to do this if you like.

alertnatively, if you want to burn powerpoint presentation to DVD disc and play it on TV, you can use this software: Moyea PPT to DVD Burner. It can perfectly convert your powerpoint to DVD video and burn them to DVD disc with its built-in engine. so you can show your powerpoint presentation without computer. this would be very helpful for your daily work and entertainment.

How many CD's?
If it is only one then a CD RW is perfect
First you have to format the CD RW like you would 3 1/2 disc. then simply burn presentation on the CD RW.

If you have Windows XP then you are in luck so you already have the burning software.

You need a CD/DVD burner. XP includes software to do this for you. Put in a blank CD or DVD (depending on the size of the PPT files you want to burn) and Windows will prompt you for the files to write to it. Click save these files to disk when you're done.
