I don't claim to be THE athiest, but I am AN athiest. I look at this section because I like to think. Looking in sections where I agree with everything said does not really challenge my intellect.

This question is asked many, many times here every single day. There is a giant search bar on top of this page that says "Search for questions" and you saw this question multiple times when you were typing a title.

Why would you continue to ask it and then press OK after not having taken these other factors into consideration? This has been copied and pasted from a text file because I'm really damn sick of seeing it all the time.

But I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here anyway. Here's a video that describes in great detail why atheists care about religion.

In short, and aside from the fact that religion gives birth to countless wars and global conflicts, directly and indirectly, atheists are discriminated against (much more noticeably in religion-dependent countries like the United States and Turkey).

Also, this section is called Religion & Spirituality. Maybe some atheists and agnostics enjoy discussing religion or perhaps even educating people. Being an atheist or agnostic has nothing to do with a lack of spirituality, however. Many atheists are spiritual or even religious. Many Buddhists are atheists, for example. All atheism means is a lack of belief in a supreme being, nothing more.

Just try to remember that there's a search bar there for a reason, and this question has literally been asked thousands and thousands of times, just in this section of Yahoo! Answers.

*Drink!*

1. Atheists may indeed have spirituality, even if they don't believe in God as such.

2. (And how very many times this has been said!) This category describes the topic of the question, not the qualifications of the answerers. Atheists may indeed have an interest in religion and spirituality. Just because I don't believe in any gods or goddesses, except as useful metaphors, does not mean I'm not interested.

I'm a member of the Ethical Society of St. Louis, which is technically a religion, although one without dogma. "Deed before creed" is our motto, but for many of us it is really deed instead of creed. Many eastern religions are also about the spiritual, moral and ethical development of the individual and the society, rather than about worship of a deity.

Get over it: we're here to have our say.

Hello,
I am living in a country where most of the people are Atheist. Most of my friends here are Atheist but still they would like to know about other religions. May be they are atheist because they do not have knowledge about other religions.
We created a website for spiritual people in Prague or sufis in Prague.

Section is for discussion about Religion and Spirituality.

Last I checked, there's no law against Atheists discussing Religion or Spirituality.

I take this very serious. Atheist have a religion it is just wrong! They believe only in themselves. Atheist are spritual, because they just like everyone else are made in the image of God and God is spiritual. So they too are spiritual. But they are not letting their spirituality follow the Holy Spirit and listen to the call of excepting Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord of their lives. This is dangerous for them because without Christ they will die and go to Hell.

Who said an atheist is not spiritual? Some of us may define it differently than theists or spiritualists (most of our definitions don't include a supernatural realm) but our experiences we describe as such are exactly the same as those theists and spiritualists have.

We simply recognize the neurological means by which they arise.

Also, because people ask questions about atheists here.

To remind you of the 'search for questions' tool at the top there...

I know what you mean though. I often ask how many true scientists are asking questions over in the science section. There are even less real dogs in the dog section....

Do all people in the cats section have cats?

Wait... probably they do... darn it, I know this one...

(I'm sure others have better answers. I just come here for fun and to learn stuff.)

edit: and dude, it's hard to answer a question seriously if it's asked every 10 minutes...

Because this isn't the " freaks only" section. Anyone can come to this section to discuss religion and/or spirituality.
