All Pat can do is tell Lupe about PAT'S version of the gospel. It might be wrong. Fundies have their version of the gospel that is obviously wrong in my opinion, so if one of them starts telling me about how they're judging me, I turn them off. I have my perception of the gospel that I have found to be closer to Christ's teaching than theirs. Mine is about loving my neighbor, not condemning. So if Pat came to me talking fundie crap, I would scoff and keep on with my life just like old Pat.

No matter how many times that I share the gospel it is not me that can make anyone believe- it is the Holy Spirit that convicts hearts- the person who refuses to hear, is blocking out the truth. Lupe's ongoing disbelief does not necessarily mean that she will never come to the saving knowledge of Christ- however if she does not- it is not God's fault or the Pat's - she is responsible for her own salvation. Prayer is the key here- Pat should continue to pray for Lupe.

The word "tell." If Pat wants to help Lupe, Pat should share the gospel with Lupe only if Lupe is interested in listening to Pat. Pat should not try to tell her anything. To me, it is totally wrong and a very selfish act to try and persuade or force someone to believe what you believe. When I say "you" I mean it as people in general not you personally.

The only reason Lupe want change is LUPE. It is not because of Pat. Lupe is more than likely like anyone that doesn't believe they are STIFF NECK, IGNORANT, people.
Sorry if the shoe fits wear it!

Pat may not be very persuasive.
I'll see if I can take a sniper shot at you:
look up Isaiah end of Ch. 44 and beginning of 45 and then look up the dates that profit lived and the date of Cyrus' rule.
there are about a 100 more examples like this, but this is yahoo answers. I have one bullet.

Lupe might be spiritually on a higher plane than Pat, and Pat just doesn't know it. We Hispanics are usually wiser than most.

Hello there:)
There is this principle in the bible found in Matthew 12:29.
" Or how can anyone enter into the house of the strong man and plunder his goods unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will thoroughly plunder his house."
Any person that under the Enemy is in His kingdom of darkness. This enemy is the " strong man " in this verse. For us to loosen ones that are under this strong man's hold we need to be those doing our homework in prayer. Some people easily open to the Lord and receive Him. Others its not that easy.
Our Lord told us in this portion in Matthew that we need to bind this strong man. Some people who adamantly refuse the gospel may indicate that they are bound in a really tight way by the enemy. We may wish to call it ' Free thinking' but this so- called free mind is actually under bondage of another kind.. of the subtle enemy who will use your own thoughts to hide behind.
When the Lord case out the demons, He first bound Satan the strong man. Once satan is bound, this person under his binds will be freed to receive the Lord.
Sometimes dear we need to pray.. sometimes the Lord may lead us to fast for such a person. The enemy DOES NOT want his house to be plundered. He is determined to enslave and trap each man and woman and child on this earth under his worldly satanic system. Anything to prevent men from seeing the LIght of the Glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ.
So the binding of the strong man is key. Unless He is bound, then this one will always be under his ururpation and hold. If this is a situation you are dealing with then prayer is needed, fasting is necessary, and having one or two other believers to stand with you in this way is crucial.

Scoffing doesn't always mean your seed fell on a stony heart. All we can do is sow the seed. It is up to the Holy Spirit of the Lord to call the plant to grow.
