Japanese games on American PS2/3?

I'm getting a new PS2 and was wondering how much modchips are for them. Would i have to leave it in or take it out whenever it's a american gam?. Also, If I had a PS3, could I do the same thing? And do Japanese games ever have English subs?

If I bought a japanese PS2 or 3 , is theere a chip for those too?

Im not 100% sure how much modchips are at the moment it depends on where you get them from and whether you install them yourself or not.
It could range from $15-$80. Most modchips allow you to play ripped games orgames burned from ISOs you download, im nto sure about being able to play foreign games but PS3 has no region limitations

Whether a japanese game has english subs or not all depends on the developer and also whether the game is released worldwide [probably has subtitles/different languages] or not [probably alll japanese with japanese subtitles]
