Jesus was talking about the people who stayed behind to bury the dead instead of following Him. Those who will not follow Jesus are "dead". So He said, "Let the dead bury their own dead."

The man did not mean that his father was already dead- or else he wouldn't have been there listening to Jesus but dealing with burial arrangements. The climate there was not conducive for keeping dead bodies, they were buried as soon as possible.
The man meant that he would wait until his father died before he would follow Jesus. Jesus advised him that it's better to follow him now, rather than dedicate our lives to other matters, waiting for a 'more opportune time' to do the will of God.

the context here is that Jesus just called someone into ministry and they made an excuse to not go. it seemed like a good excuse, but it wasn't Jesus' will that the man attend to family matters when he was called to follow. the dead burying the dead simply means those who are unregenerate will bury the physically dead person

in common terms a wager, yet He meant permit the spiritually ineffective bury the bodily ineffective. He additionally informed the different guy to no longer look back if he wanted to be in fantastic condition for the dominion of God. Jesus does not look very being concerned or loving in those verses.

Let the 'spiritually dead' (you) bury their (own spiritually dead) dead.
These are those who have entered into Satan's synagogue and believe his lies about the so called 'rapture', and those who have never believed or have stopped believing in the Son of God.

There are two different types of dead. The physically dead and the spiritually dead. Those who are spiritually dead mourn for themselves and those who are physically dead. Those who are alive in Christ need not mourn for the physically dead. Once the body is dead there is nothing that can be done for them. We should be more concerned about those who are dead spiritually and alive physically.

Dunno - maybe something like...
Those that are buried in the trivialities of materialism and selfishness have cut themselves off from the part of themselves that is timeless and spiritual, and for the most part that means that they have already died, at least spiritually. So as far as that goes. The people that are cut off can go ahead and bury the dead.

Both of my parents and my brother are dead and gone.
Anything that I could do for them has been done.
They have either gone to Heaven or Hell, the choice was theirs.
but life goes on and I need to concentrate on those living.
