seems like the very foundation of their different denominations is to just protest against Catholicism. so, what would happen to them if there's no Catholicism?

After seeing the questions about Catholics on here today, I am assuming that their whole service is devoted to spreading lies about other faiths.
So, I guess they'd get out of church a lot sooner if the Catholic church ceased to exist. Of course, if there were no Catholics, Islam would bypass Christianity as the world's largest religion.
They may want to think about that. Perhaps get a jump start on slandering that faith as well.

I think closer to the time of the Reformation this was true, but you have many Protestants now that are far removed from that time. They see Catholicism as just another Christian denomination. And if you attend many modern Catholic masses you will see that Protestantism has greatly influenced our liturgy - and even beliefs among Catholics - leading us to be more readily "accepted" in Protestant circles.

The false ideas of religious pluralism and "tolerance" has led to beliefs such as this among Protestants. You know the common saying you here nowadays..... "all paths lead to God" and other such nonsense.

But dont get me wrong, you still have thousands whose sole existence is to preach against and write books about the "whore of Babylon" as they have branded the Church that Christ founded.

Pastor Billy says: interesting question as much of their literature and tracts tends to focus on Catholics and Catholicism in a negative tone sometimes subtle sometimes very abrasively. You would think they'd spend the majority of their time centered on Jesus instead of attacking Catholicism yet it's been my experience the most ardent and outspoken Fundamentalist Protestants/Protestant Evangelicals immediately attack your Catholic faith tradition once they learn they are talking to a Catholic.

Not very Christian is it

yes, very much so!

but without Catholicism Christianity wouldn't have survived this long, therefore, there would never even be any Protestant "Christians" that would exist to begin with.

edit: sisterzeal, no Catholic forced you to receive the Catholic Church's doctrines. if you're referring to my question, then obviously you assume that I am forcing my beliefs on you. I would never do such a despicable act that Bible-fundies do. with the word "understand" I was meaning to say, "grasp" or "comprehend". oh well, as usual, fundies don't get the point of the question because they let their emotions maneuver them. a pity actually.

Oh, some of them would still have plenty of other groups to hate, slander, and attack. I'm starting to think of a lot of them on this Forum as "pit bull Protestants." They sink their jaws into something like "Why do you Catholic worship idols?" and nothing can get them to turn loose, not even a good, strong shillelagh of Scripture and logic whalloped between their eyes.

Please understand, there are many loving, kind, and caring Protestants here -- the kind of Christian who makes me glad to call them my brothers and sisters in Christ. It's the pit bull Protestants that I could do without.

They'd have to go back to studying more Scripture than Revelation and Daniel, for starters.

Yes

Like a rebellious two year old (same understanding level) they would have nothing to do if not act up against the parent. Nor like the child would they have existence.

No. They would continue to serve God. Their purpose is not protest, but they will protest if they need to.
