Yes, we are better off to avoid sinning; however, we all sin and there are marvelous blessings for those who repent. We do draw closer to Christ through repentance, but we can also stay close to Christ by avoiding sin and repenting of the sins that we do commit. In all cases avoiding sin is better than sinning and later asking repentance.

Of course avoidance is better than repentance, however it is a heck of a lot more difficult. Not just with sin but safety, peer pressure, overeating, drugs, anyone care to add to this list?

If you avoid it, It doesnt necessarily mean that you have repent. You may still have that feeling of hatred, lust, envy etc... in your heart. Avoid is the beginning of repent. But repent is changing the way you think and your actions as well.

One can't run from the truth about one's self, and neither can one hide from it forever.

Turn from your sins (repent) and be saved!
