Do you think you would have won the civil war against the British, if it wasn't for the help you got from the French and Spanish?

r1b1c* Sorry but just because you are a yank does not automatically mean you are right. A person from Spain is Spanish.

Given that many Americans of the time were still immigrants or were first generation, there was also a fair amount of British fighting British.

Hit the books. It wasn't a civil war. Spain had a civil war in the 1930s in which two governments fought it out.

It was a revolution which was overthrowing the British rule.

Britain really never put all it's fighting forces into it; they had other wars to fight in other parts of the world.

Spain didn't do anything but take the gold from the Indians in Mexico and South America.

Sorry, prooney, it was a Revolution.

2 a: a sudden, radical, or complete change b: a fundamental change in political organization; especially : the overthrow or renunciation of one government or ruler and the substitution of another by the governed

Had the British won, it would have been called a civil war. However, the British lost; hence, it was a revolution.

And to answer your question: Probably not.

We never denied that we received help from the French. If relations between the French and British governments had been better, we might not have been able to get that help. Ben Franklin was also played a key role in securing assistance from the French. .

Actually Americans fought the Spaniards for most of the American revolution.

The American revolution started with the United Statesian war of independence but did not end with it, it continued until 1825 when the last of the Spanish forces were defeated in the battle of Junin in the Andean mountains.

ps. there is no such thing as a Spanish man, citizens of Spain are Spaniards

It would have been a much harder time and would have taken longer, but I think the desire to break free of the Crown would have eventually led to the same end....

Yes, I do.

g-day!
