First off, buy the crappiest one that will hold a tune to learn on. You don't need much to start out and you will drop it, scratch it, and maybe get frustrated so you may quit. If so, you haven't wasted much money.
And learning guitar depends on the person. Some people pick it up in seconds, while others may never get it. Try taking a class. Some places will teach you and provide the guitar while your there.

Anything that you have to lear is going to be a little hard at first, but it will be well worth it!
My Husband runs a Guitar Center and the guitar he suggests for beginner is a Breedlove. They are moderately priced and are good quality. Don't get something too cheap, it won't sound as good and it won't last as long. I would suggest going to a Guitar Center or another music store and talking with the Sales Rep, tell them what you are looking for and tell them how much you want to spend they can get you want you need. I would say $300 - $500 would be good to spend.

You can get a very nice guitar for $300.00. For my money, I think Yamahas and Washburns provide the biggest bang for buck for a beginner who wants a nicer instrument (not a piece of junk).
It is like anything else, it's hard at first. You have to be dedicatd and stick with it, and you have to LOVE it! Otherwise you will lose interest. Just play 20 minutes a day no matter what and you will be awesome in a year or two! If you sing start singing with yourself ASAP so you'll be used to it - it's harder to pick up later.

Yes, but I bought my classic folk Silvertone Guitar at Goodwill for $25.00...* Shop around.* Its a collectible.* Its worth a lot more than I payed for it.* I got the Guitar case that it came in included in the price.* It was manufactured in the early 50's from researching it.* Good Luck & enjoy.*

Any instrument is harder to play than it looks. You'd need to practice it every other day, at least. At first the strings will hurt your fingers.
A $300 one would probably be fine, for a starter one.
