Is this true? I have been a Christian all my life I still don't know if this is right or not. I receive the holy spirit when I was 20 it feel like fire from feet to my head I get chills just talk about it. but i never spoke in tongues! I know what I feels like! People told me I should have started speaking in tongues. Is this true if you don't speak in tongues you don't have the holy spirit?

That's not true. You don't need to speak in tongues to be a Christian. That's fanatical baloney. There's a passage in the bible that said that one day there will no longer be the need for speaking in tongues.

Not everyone will speak in Tongues ! I Interpret Tongues and Speak in Tongues 18 years I am privileged. JeffBurrowsO1@hotmail.com I don't call myself a Christian anymore I was kicked out of Fellowship for divorcing a Jezebel.....but I'm happy to speak in Tongues and interpret just for your needs. I don't lie about what God is really saying though.....you'll get the truth. 2Corinthians 3:6 The letter kills but the Spirit gives life. The law and the Spirit are intertwinded in the Bible....Love will endure but the Gifts will pass away . Well the Churches are Void of both.

Absolutely Not. Not all are given the gift of speaking in tongues. That is a lie. Don't worry about it. No where in the Bible does it say that to have the Holy Spirit within you you need to speak in tongues.

Speaking in tongues is a GIFT of the Holy Spirit. It's not a payment, and He is under NO obligation to pass it on to you. There are MANY gifts which you can receive. To demand any one gift sounds more like human pride than anything else.

The only Tongues that means anything is the kind that is understood by others. I've known a couple of people who did that, preaching in Spanish when they had no knowledge of that language.

Speaking in tongues is one of many gifts of the Holy Spirit. Some people recieve the gift and speak in tongue, and some people do not. (Just like with any other gift). Speaking in tongues is really awesome, but it is not a requirement by any means.

You can read about this in 1 Corinthians Ch 12. (You also might continue to read more about it in Ch. 14)

Hope this helps.
Many blessings =)

No, tongues gift is the least of the gifts

Being in the Holy Ghost does not depend on feelings.

Tongues could be a sign of the demonic as well as of the 'tongues of angels".

Don't worry. Start babbling and if you have the gift of tongues you will go on and if not God has not given you that particular gift. Nobody has all the Charismatic or other spiritual gifts.

Live in Jesus and do not worry about tongues.

Xenolalia is the gift of speaking or understanding fluently an unstudied foriegn language and glossolalia is speaking in the spirit what is jibberish to those not involved.

What I was taught was that if someone was speaking in tongues, there would have to be someone to interpret it. My question to you is why do you feel that you should speak in tongues? Is there someone you need to talk to that doesn't speak your language?

Not everyone gets every gift of the Spirit. Some people get one gift, some another.

If the time ever comes that you need to speak another language, you will have the help of the Spirit to do so. Of course, if you've never studied the language, you may not get that gift.

I have tried for years to learn another language, and have never received the gift of tongues. I guess that this is not my gift. Maybe, if the time ever comes, I will receive this gift, and be able to learn another language.

speaking in tongues is like having turrets... also the way you describe the holy spirit is like catching a virus... I've seen preachers point at a human on the floor saying she/he is getting healed... but in acutal fact the person was having an epileptic seizure... the devil sure has a way of making you chirstians see every curse as something good dont he?

the bible says
"out of your belly shall flow rivers of Living water"
and
"if you ask for a fish God will not give you a stone"
He gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask.
I believe you already have the Holy Spirit and just need to believe you can speak in tongues. Speak from your heart.......(belly) whatever words come to you ........thank the Holy spirit and the Lord that he will talk through you in an unknown heavenly language. Keep thanking him ......Believe.......and it will happen. Jesus said to have faith like a child. Don't be intimidated by all these big words and long sermons people are giving you. Jesus honors faith. Remember that! Jesus honors faith. everything that happened in the bible that was miraculous was a result of simple faith. the people who knew the word of God inside out got no miracles why?????
Because they would not become like a child and only believe

Sorry, you really have to stop distrusting His truth.

I'm not down playing the gift of the Holy Spirit, you just did not receive it at twenty, when you first believed you felt it. It actually existed within you always, even in your ignorance of it.

The church you have gone to makes you distrust His truth.
