Why is it certain Protestant groups ie. Evangelicals, Nondemos and Fundamentalists attempt to separate God from his Church?
I regularly hear such silly talk as "all I need is my bible" or "it's just me and Jesus" or "God gave me the inspired word and that's all I need to know"
really now, well would you mind explaining who did God give inspiration to to actually write that bible and don't you think we should also be obedient to that authority (his Church) in learning about "the word"?
Seems to me Protestantism (which includes Baptists, Nondemos etc) as much as it now prides itself on being "evangelical" has lost the message of a visible unity no wonder in the mission field they can no longer provide a strong witness to one faith, one baptism, one Lord.

Edge this is not a question on Catholicism but for the record Catholicism has never claimed to be just one more denomination. Denomination-hood was founded under the Protestant umbrella hence the confuse on "one faith, one baptism, one Lord" by them. Disunity of Protestant instruction doesn't speak well to the claim of being God's true Church

sisterzeal have you ever contemplated the reason you've been given a definition of church which excludes the literal bricks and mortar is because your faith tradition knows fully well they cannot look to history or in particular archeology to say "see there that was Christian center of worship and congregation that belonged to us, that is our antiquity of Christian witness"
food for thought sister, now please provide to me an example of Protestant bible which pre-dates the 16th century

you mention breaking of break in houses, question does a seed stay a seed? question#2 are the baby and the man the same person? I mean to ask sisterzeal are you not that same baby born years ago and yet you physically don't resemble who were when you were an enfant correct? your understanding of the church or how it has been presented to you restricts growth and development, and Christ used many parables to explain how the seed of his Church would grow in fertile ground, the see that does not grow is dead. In China today we still have many house churchs why? because the Church is still being perscuted and must go underground. I think you need to think again because the cliches you've learned don't work anymore

last things: When I talk about Church and God sisterzeal I am not merely talking about arguments against buildings I am talking about separating God from the teaching authority of his Church, the council of elders Christ left us who are his body.
Protestantism has tended to say one thing and do another. Early arguments against the authority of those who sit in the seat of Peter replaced that authority with local preachers creating a "congregational" version of Church which birthed the inital denominational divide. Today we face divisons within denominations where persons such as yourself are led to believe you can interpret God's word on your own and in opposition to that held by the pastor.
In general I see Catholicism having one teaching authority and one temporial physical head called pope all under the authority of God whereas Protestantism has multiple teaching authorities and multiple popes who never provide one voice on Christian belief and practice.

yet for all the protestants and non-denoms' there is at least a fraction of the truth.
If you are looking for a religion that is truly united, you can find it, yet you will have to be willing to let go of the apostate concepts and traditions that have been heaped onto the Church over the last 2000 years.

Time for a little blunt talk.
Jesus started one organization, the Church. He established a hierarchy of authority. He gave the Church power to "bind and loose" in matters of forgiving sins, administering the sacraments, establishing interpretive doctrines, choosing new leadership, and making rules for the community. Only the leaders chosen by these rules have valid leadership authority in the one Church. This leaves exactly two modern organizations, the Catholic and the Orthodox.
Beginning at about the 15th century, certain Protesters started rival organizations to the Church, which are sects or denominations. These sects were not established by Jesus; they are not authorized to "bind and loose"; and they do not administer valid sacraments. Under the anarchy of private interpretation, the Calvinist and Lutheran protesters have splintered into more than 30,000 sects. They are like shoots cut off from Christ's vine, starving from lack of nourishment from the root Christ planted.
Some of these denominational sects do good work, and some catch part of Christ's message because they try to take Jesus seriously. Others "play church," and the purpose of their church game is to reassure themselves that grossly sinful actions like abortion and sodomy are blessed by God.
Salvation is a possibility for sincere followers of Christ outside his Church who receive baptism, believe Christ and put faith in him, renounce their own lives and take up the cross, repent, obey God, do what is right and just, especially works of charity, adopt the humility of a child, eat the bread of life, forgive others, and endure to the end.
One of the Protesters' chief impediments to reconciliation is their refusal to eat the bread of life. Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you." How can the schismatic sectarians eat the flesh of the Son of Man when a) they think his flesh is poetry or something symbolic, and b) their self-appointed leaders lack the power to call on Christ's promise of transubstantiation?
Cheers,
Bruce

One of the things that brought me to the Orthodox church was the since of tradition and the fact Orthodox doctrine teaches that it preserves the truth and gives a since of connection to the early Church.
From what I see with my experiences with Protestantism I have been to a couple protestant schools they seemed to be focused on how to make the services cool which makes the focus on showmanship...
and not Christ.
Pastor x wants to fill seats so he claims to matter more as he can proof text and take enough passages out of context to come up with a more popular doctrine so pastor y hires DJ brother love to "rap the gospel"
and pastor z hires a Christian metal band....
this is about making a bunch of noise and from what I saw the Gospel is forgoten in it.

And most of the "It's just me and Jesus" crowd go to churches, where they're expected to follow the doctrine of that particular denomination. They listen to a man in the pulpit or on television interpret their "inspired word" and put HIS teachings into effect in their lives.
That alone goes a long way to explain why there are so many Protestant denominations, many of whom claim to have the sole truth. It also accounts for all of the verbal and written battles between those "we've-got-the-truth-and-you-don't" groups -- to say nothing of the hatred, bitterness, and unchristian behavior that they display towards each other.

The Church is the visible sign of God's presence on earth and is 'the Bride of Christ'
Jesus gave the keys to Peter the leader of the twelve-meaning giving him the authority to lead
Told him what he binds on earth shall be bound in Heaven
A universal message
Jesus got into Peter's boat .

Protestant groups separate God from His Church because they are tragically misinformed.
Protestants always say that Jesus has died for my sins and that's just it. Certainly, Jesus died for our sins but that is not just it. He came down on earth not just to die but to establish His Church. We can see in the Bible how many times Jesus was saved from death from His infancy even to His public ministry because He was here to do something before He dies. And indeed, He did. He was able to establish His Church. Another thing, we cannot separate Jesus from His Church because the Church is His bride.

I think you forgot that the church is a temple made without hands. And that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
That's the trouble with buildings people always end up worshipping them way too much. I believe in the gathering of believers and I do go to church .......I am prepared however for the church as we know it to fall because it will. Unpopular message but it's coming. Everyone will think the devil did it but God is going to allow it so people will become the people they are supposed to be in the last days. HEY a lot like the people in the book of ACTS! preaching the gospel to everyone not just going overseas. Imagine that? Oh and believers gathering in their houses and breaking bread and having sweet fellowship not being left out of every FANCY conference because they can't afford to get there to hear the word of the Lord. Imagine that too. I can only imagine. It will be glorious.

Why do Catholics have such a hard time realizing their denomination is not the church Jesus founded. His church is not a denomination. His church is all believers.
EDIT: The orthodox split off from you long before Protestants. Face it. Like it or not Catholicism is just one denomination among many in Christianity.

I beg to differ. I attend a Non Denominational Church. We follow the Written Word of God in all things. Jesus is still in charge in or house. Please don't blanket state anything unless you have researched it. Go in peace and be blessed in Jesus' Name.
