You don't see any Buddhist or Jewish horror movies, now do you?

No, because the enemy/Satan isn't interested in religions or people that don't pose a threat to his kingdom. Christianity poses a huge threat to Satan so that's why there is so many movies and other things to try and dishonor the Christan faith.
Satan hates Christianity and any anyone who represents the one true God!

In a small way, I think horror movies and Christianity are aiming for the same market; people with a willingness to accept what isn't there. Look at a Friday the 13th or Halloween movie, and you'll see a supernatural being who engages in moralizing. Not too different from Jesus, really. You can kind of see Jason as a Christ figure who got fed up with tolerating sin in this life and wanted to speed up the process.

Because Christianity is rooted in a moral code that the majority of people are familiar with--though, by that logic, there ought to be Jewish horror movies, too!

Horror movies seem to be mostly about showing exaggerated consequences for immoral behavior. Also, Christianity has a spirit of visceral evil (Satan) that is a convenient device for corruption of the villain. Since many people in the US and UK are familiar with the moral code and punishments in the Bible, that religion is the one that gets used.

Just as many, even those who call themselves Christian, do not really believe in hell...folks doubt the existance of the devil and demons.

Movies about evil spirits, like "The Exorcist", scare the daylights out of believers.

Thinking they're just scary stories, the luke warm "christians" think it's just an exciting roller coaster ride for their emotions.

I wonder if actual demons enhabit these films. I want nothing to do with them!

Give me a romantic comedy any day!!!

Each religion has it demons. It's just we don't saw them on movies. Maybe the Cristian religion is more opened?

I've read Salman Rushdy' Satanic verses... quite fantastic for story, could do a great movie here. But you know what will happened if someone just tries to make the movie script....

Because of a lot of these movies use the theme of good vs evil and satan vs god so it would obviously have to use a religious tone in order to have that theme.
Plus catholic churches tend to be a little creepy architecturally so it adds to the setting.

Because Christians only pretend, the Buddhists and Jews do it for real.

The Bible is chock full of ancient curses. spirits, demons, angels, transfigurations, Satan and hell.

It's a very horrific religion, picture the bloody man nailed to the cross.
