Some military personnel request to touch my "ACLU" card. Why is that?

The other day I entered a military base (Selfridge base) and showd them my ACLU card. They snapped to attention and barked an order "ACLU card caring member arriving!!" I said "Carry On" and entered the nice base.

What color is the sky in your world?

BTW. You should try to keep your stories straight. You claim to be a veteran, but not a retiree. So how would you be able to get on a military base? Not with an ACLU card. And why would an Air Guard base use a Navy term such as "Arriving"?

"Arriving" is used in Navy ceremonies to announce the entrance of ranking officers and VIPs. It is accompanied by a boatswain's whistle and the appropriate number of bells. A veteran would know that!

Actually, you can't get onto selfridge (or any base) using any kind of card but an ID card. Are you sure you're not confused about what card you were giving them? I know some ignorant people find it difficult to read and tell the difference.

And I'm betting they get a good belly laugh once you leave....They don't need to give you respect, especially since you have not earned it. I'd throw the card back in your face and tell you what you can do with it. You need to walk in their shoes...
