a jerk and then back into a nice guy? He has given me all the signs. He's asked me out, touched me (not in a sexual way), usually says hello, sometimes spends a lot of time in my department (we work together- its not an issue I'm leaving in two months). Asked me about my life whether or not I have a boyfriend. He tries to make me laugh, holds eye contact for way too long, noticed when I changed my hair, and is in my personal space a lot. He sometimes makes sexual innuendos, teases me, and tells me I'm one of his favorites. I thought he liked this other girl, but w/o me even asked me he told me how he doesn't like her- that she creeps him out. So I'm confused! He's kind of two faced so I don't even know if he's being real with me. And when there are certain people around like other managers, he'll completely ignore me. When he found I was leaving he said "Well ****." And he said in a jokingly way, "Oh well you know I like you, so I'd only do it for you."

So why would he be a nice guy, then turn into a jerk, then become a nice guy again? I'm sick of this roller coaster ride. I'm shy so I don't really display my feelings outright. And I've tried, but I just can't seem to flirt so outright. I think I've given him signs, but I don't even know any more. He's just outright rude to me sometimes. And sometimes I can't tell if he was only joking. Could he be this way because he's not sure I like him? Or is he just extremely flirty?

Yeah, I've just been polite with him. But I don't go out of my way for him, and I certainly don't initiate anything. I do this because I'm shy, and I'm not sure if he's just a flirt.

This sounds like the office flirt. Don't take him seriously. He's after nothing more than having his ego stroked. He probably tells the other girl the same things.
The reason why he acts different when there's other people around, is he doesn't want to be caught out wasting company time by flirting. How much older is he? Is he married? Is this guy a superior? Do you work under him? If so this is totally inappropriate, and he knows it. Another reason for changing his attitude when others are there.
Please if you finish there in a few months don't give this guy a way into your life, just ignore him. He sounds like the type to move onto greener pastures fairly quickly.

i think you should ignore him and play hard to get. try to make him notice how your feeling. don't worry about the flirting thing. just make lots of eye contact and smile, but keep your distance. once he notices your kind of ignoring him, he'll try harder to get your attention and stop being a jerk in front of other people so he can still have your interest. make it seem like you don't really care what he's talking about and try to be intrested in other guy so he feels like he has to work for you. try to be flirty, laugh a lot, and have a good time without him. it's also a tiny bit fun to see him struggle for you.
i hope this helped!!! (i know boys can be jerks)

Seems to me that he is just being a typical guy. And I don't say that trying to be some kind of feminist or anything....

It's just guys love to play little games like that to see what your reactions are. Then once he has seen them, he either gets bored and moves on, or he takes a bigger approach to get closer to you.
