I think they're Christians who write music from that perspective. It's not really "Christian" music the way other christian music is.. It's just Christian people who sing about how cool it is to fall in love, how hard it sometimes to be in love, the trouble with the world...the trouble with themselves etc...all the regular stuff but writing about it as a Christian experiences those things.

I love U2- have seen them a bunch of times... they are a rock band made up of Catholic Irish guys- they are not a religious music band - they promote freedom of speech and tolerance in their songs, not trying to aim at 1 specific religion, like the "christian" rock bands. To answer your question No they don't sing "worship music" and they aren't a Christian band.

I think they're Christians who make rock music! I love that band but they're not Catholic as some people have said in there answers..Bono's mother was Protestant and his Dad was Catholic... He and the rest of the band are protestant and joined an evangelical group called Shalom when they first decided to got to church..

I have never thought of U2 as a christian band. They are a rock band.
I dont like christian rock music. I think its disrespectful. I dont like hearing the name of God being shouted in music. I think that music that is meant to uplift and worship God shouldnt be rocking out, but peaceful and respectful. But that is just my opinion.

A band that has their faith inform their music.
A nice change from contemporary Christian music that has to have the phrase "I will praise you" in the chorus.

They in fact don't refer to themselves as a Christian band. They are a band whose members happen to be openly Christian. In listening to their music you don't hear the sort of dull lyrics, ideas, or the same sort of universal dullness that I hear in "worship music". I have tried to listen to "praise music", but it just bores me.

I regard them as a bunch of overpaid and under-talented musicians who talk big about world poverty and yet seem quite happy to ride around in limousines and private jets

Bono drinks like a fish so I'm not sure how that would fly in the church.
