Once again the Urban Legend continues to perpetuate this falsehood so what will it take to bury it once and for all?

I'm ashamed (As a Veteran myself) that this severe falsehood is still around.

The facts are, 29 aug 1970 Travis AFB, there were undignified people yelling, gesturing and yes spitting toward an aircraft full of returning veterans. The mixture was both career and draftee deboarding the Boeing 707. There was a chain link fence separating the two elements. There really didn't need to be as the military personell to the man did not respond, but gracefully walked by the gauntlet and toward the customs.About 24 hours later I was in SFO fresh out of the army and 4 days previously was in a major battle near Xuan Loc. What a culture shock. A young man and his girlfriend greeted me as I waited to board a brand new 747. He kept his face within biting distance as he queried me about the number of women and children I had murdered and babies I had burned. He got no response nor recieved any wounds as I had much more respect for my enemy combatants than a smegma like him. Those include people that support his ideology then and now get the same no respect. Bless our troops and the ones who have the resolve and courage to understand we're now at war. RD

I don't know where you get your "facts" that this is a falsehood. As a Vietnam veteran that WAS spit upon, verbal assaulted, and screamed at while walking through an airport when returning from Nam in 1969, I can assure you that it did happen.
Due to my Christian upbringing, as well as my military discipline, I did not react to those that confronted me, but walked on as if they did not exist.

My dad is a VietNam Vet and told me of the many times that he was spit on and called a baby killer. Three of my uncles also told me about being spit on and being treated badly by protestors, so I hardly think it's an urban legend. I also work for the Army today as a civilian and work with MANY Viet Nam Vets who have talked about the way they were treated...I think maybe you need to get your facts straight there buddy.

It is not a Urban Legend, If my father was still alive you could have asked him. As he was returning home was spit on received death threats and even was forced to move from one apartment because of being a veteran back from Vietnam, no matter how you liberals would like to try, you can not re-wright history. Your hatred for the men and women of the military is known around the world,

You know, I didn’t know until this moment that I lived through an urban legend as well as a war. I got back to Travis AFB and my mother and sister were there to greet me. As we were hugging, I saw three hippies, two girls and a guy, yelling, spitting and cussing and then being escorted out by the Air Police. They had pulled signs out of their clothes that read “baby killers” and “war mongers”. Back then, we didn’t call the newspapers anytime something happened. I was a Staff Sergeant Tactical Air Controller attached to various Army units for two years and I never saw or heard of any “atrocities” until I got back. When John Kerry testified to committing or even having knowledge of these so-called disgraceful acts he should have been court martialed!

After a two week hiatus, you have brought back this stupid rant. Looks like you still can not get many people to buy it.

>Your buddy "conned_cerned" just posted yesterday that Vietnam veterans were spit on. He just changed the story so that it was Republicans that did the spitting. Do you guys just make this crap up for craps and grins?

And I myself am not ashamed to once again respond.
As a "Vietnam" vet and one who was there, one who has worked for years with hundreds of other vets (some who still remembered this so called "Myth") at the VA hosp, all I can say is you are the only one who still feels this way (this is the second time you asked this)!
It did not happen to everybody, BUT IT DID!!!!!!
Live with it.

I sincerely doubt that you are old enough to recall the poor treatment my brothers in arms received when they came home. Next, I suppose you will be telling us that the Hanoi Hilton never existed and that Jane Fonda is a great and patriotic American.

Unless you have witnessed the return of every last Vietnam veteran, you cannot claim that it didn't happen.

As long as people like you exist the possibility of spitting on veterans is a certainty, between your flag burning, anti-war posting and trips to Wal-Mart that is.
