My daughter has a cooking lesson on Tuesday in school but instead of cooking the mince meat in school on the day she has been told that it has to be done the night before at home. Then take the cooked mince into school the following day to make samosa's, so the mince is going to be cooked again whilst they fry the finished samosa, then fetch it home to be reheated - surely you can't do this can you??????????

As long as you don't heat the samosa again at home it is fine... and this should be stressed to your daughter's class. In fact if they don't stress it I'd be worried.
Doesn't matter how well or thoroughly its heated or how well or quickly its been chilled. You can only reheat meat once.... basic food hygene and safety.

Are you sure they are going to cook it again in school. The reason I ask is tha Samosas are normally made with a cold filling, and eaten cold. Therefore the cooked meat would only be heated slightly during the cooking of the Khasta (pastry the samosa is wrapped with). You wouldn't re-heat them again when you got home tho, as they can be eaten cold (I think they are preferable this way).

Depends on how quickly it's chilled after cooking.
At home put it into its container when it's hot and seal it. Then chill it quickly. Personally I'd freeze it.
At school thaw it quickly and cook straight away. As the meat will be inside a hot pastry case it should be ok to reheat and eat the same day.

Not a very clever way of doing it. I would advise against reheating them when she brings them home. Probably worth phoning the school, as they should know that food that is cooked can only be reheated once. I would think they are trying to save time in class, but you will be at risk if food is heated up at home.

Um - I'd prefer not to - it only takes a very short time to fry mince anyway!
Reheating anything more than once is definitely NOT recommended - at least it wasn't when I did my food & nutrition GCE! Maybe styles in food poisoning have changed since then though!!

No you can reheat it once but not twice! So you will have to eat them cold. Surely it would be easier to get the children to cook the mince at school!!

As long as the cooked meat has been cooled right down and kept in the fridge overnight, transported in a cool box and cooled down before re-transporting home in the same way this will be fine, as far as cooking again when she arrives home, samosas are eaten cold any way .

Yes. And that is essentially what happens with a good many frozen foods. That's why the meat tends to be so dry.
( mince meat for my fellow Americans is what we call ground beef or hamburger meat. )

Sounds like Salmonella farming to me, I would definitely not eat it and I would question the schools cooking master.

So you are the one who opted for woodwork/metalwork classes instead of Domestic Science? To prove yourself, as good as a member of the sex that is now more or less found itself redundant. Ah well we all make mistakes.
I also take it you've never bothered to read a cookery book, still at least you have a daughter!!!!
