Vista for Dummies is correct. Just for your reference, here's the "store-bought Vista to store-bought XP" Step By Step from Microsoft:

Laptops use Recovery disks supplied by the manufacturer, so read the User Manual to learn how to create / use them. You must have Vista Recovery Disks before you try to replace with XP.

Then, order the XP Recovery disks from the manufacturer, do NOT use a generic store-bought XP DISK. Then, follow the User Manual to do the full Vista recovery, using the XP RECOVERY DISKS instead.

Good luck with that. I tried and didn't work. Got rid of the computer and invested in a MacBook. Best thing I ever did! Vista is rubbish.
