Don't join the Air Force if you don't want to leave home. Even if you're in the Guard or Reserve you could still get deployed.

If you are close to or over 18 and don't want to leave home, THAT is your problem. It's critical that young people get away from the comfort zone of home/home-town and move away at least for a time. You can always move back, but DO NOT stay in your hometown. At least give yourself the opportunity to see something else. But just the fact that you asked this question, the last thing you want to do is join the military, unless you can change the way your brain is working on this issue.

Don't join if you're not willing to leave home. Even in the Guard/Reserve, you're liable for deployments.

I suggest don't enlist in the military at all. If your first priority is to not leave home, you'd be very unhappy in the military.

I would suggest they either do NOT join the Military or they GROW UP.

A) see if you can get posted next to home or B) join the reserves
Ask your recruiter about possible duty stations. just an FYI the army has more opportunities and many more duty stations I have a depot no less than 15 minutes from my house.

grow up and quit being a wussy person. one does NOT enlist expecting to be able to dictate where you get stationed. doesn't work that way.
