These people may seem blunt or sarcastic, but they're right --- it really is a useless degree.
Two year degrees, regardless of the field, are limiting to start with (yours truly has a 2-year degree and is going back for his bachelors), and even a bachelors in humanities is very impractical.

Beat most people at "Jeopardy."
It doesn't really give you job skills that are in demand.
