Because this is a war among the people and it's a fight for minds, not territory. The US military is ill-equipped for this sort of mission and should never have been deployed for it.
It is unwinnable militarily. All one can do is put out fires for the next 50 years as an occupying army.
it's Iraqi "whack a mole" basically.
Anyone who thinks this is a war that can be won is clueless. People will find all kinds of scapegoats for the US failure in Iraq but they won't find the right one----he's in the White House.

You make it sound like the full weight of the USA is being held down by a bunch of insurgents, what you have posted is a misleading description, probably thousands of troops in the war on terror do not hear a shot being fired.
The Military forces of America stationed in Iraq and in Afghanistan are very small compared to the total strength of the USA military.
If there is any "Walk Of Shame" it will be lead by you and other anti-War protesters, on your knees, begging for the forgiveness of all decent and upright American Citizens for the base lies and propaganda you have been posting on here.

We are fighting a different kind of war than in the past. Vietnam was lost due to politics. This one we're fighting against a extremist's version of Islam. I wouldn't say that they are holding us at bay. Our military is constantly taking out insurgents at an astounding rate. The problem is that when one insurgent dies, another takes his or her place. We are fighting a religious war, not conventional. It's been slow, but we are gaining all the time. Stop listenening to the liberal media. Most of the troops are seeing progress.
