Like every other person I know, I believe in a great many things.
I don't know anyone who doesn't believe in ANYTHING ... that is a sweeping generalisation you can't possibly justify making.
Did you actually mean to say: "why are there people who don't believe exactly the same things as I do?"?
Yes, there probably IS a reason why we are here ... but why worry about it, when there are much more important things to think about?

Belief is an emotional commitment to wishful thinking.
Yes there has to be a reason for everything and belief will not provide an explanation for anything. Belief in fact short circuits the process of discovery.
So I do not believe in any thing it's a waste of time and energy. It's much easier to wait for the facts to be found and then know.

1. It is highly unlikely that there are people who don't believe in anything. It is a necessity that we operate on a set of assumptions about how the world works.
2. There doesn't necessarily have to be a reason that we are here.

Why does there have to be a reason? Whats the reason Jupiter is out there? Why are there stars? Why are their bio-organisms that live in the bottom of the ocean that we have never seen?
Its real simple. Evolution, and adaptation. Nothing more.
Yeah Gessewah or whatever, Mel Gibson is a fine example of good christians that dont drink or mis behave, so's tammy faye and her husband, billy graham, bush, all fine upstanding role models for your religion. My absolute favorites are the little old men throwing rotten veggies at 15 year old girls at abortion clinics. I wish i could be a morally ground as them.

There does huh... so what reason is that? Quantum fluctuations? An eternal universe where a tiny replicating organism occurred by chance?
I believe in lots of things. About the origins of the universe, I'm open to different explanations. The one most people have, God, describes nothing and frankly has no evidence supporting it.

While there may be a reason, it doesn't mean that we'll ever know it.
Edit: and as the answerer above me pointed out, there doesn't really have to be a reason.

the reason is to pass our genes to the next generation, the same reason applies to chimps, gorillas, dog, cats and cows they all share most of our genes and that reason with us. Isn't that enough reason for you?
don't you stink the same as any animal when you go to the bathroom? what do you think makes you so different? Actually in cruelty we are #1 worse than animals.

Well, easy now...
Just because they don't believe what you believe doesn't mean they don't believe in 'anything'.
Are you frustrated that you can't get them to agree with you?

Too many people don't care about anything other than themselves. Have themselves on top of the world; getting drunk, breaking laws, of what ever is their 'fun'.
I guess they are not thinking enough?
It dose seem hard to believe that they love it that way.
