Yes, it depends on the movers how they charge to pack and move your things vs. just moving items.. If you can try packing up any belonging yourself.. The more boxes you pack- the less expensive it will be.. You can get moving boxes from drug stores, grocery store, wholesale clubs, department stores, and even office building that make copies.. The copy paper boxes are really sturdy and have lids ! Then save some newspaper a sharpie and some heavy duty tape and you should be all set.. !!! My husband was a professional mover and he always said to pack towels with the dishes to use as padding.. So, we used my kitchen towels to pack the dishes.. It worked very, very well.. We also used luggage to pack the clothing that we were wearing for that season.. That way we weren't searching through boxes of clothing was in the luggage ! I would also start by sorting all your belonging.. TRASH, DONATE, KEEP really think about what you use/don't use and get rid of anything you don't need.. Also, if you have adult children have them go through or pick-up there things that they have "saved" you don't need to move that stuff... Nows a great time to scale down ! Good luck...

Depending on the movers, so call around. It's cheaper if you pack the boxes, but they do charge extra for boxes. They will also pack you and provide the boxes, too... of course, this costs more. They will also move hanging clothes.

First, they itemize all furniture/ appliances you have, then they calculate the umber of boxes and whether they are large or small. Then they calculate the distance. Make certain you get this is writing before the move, or you could be in for an unpleasant surprise.

I have a third hint. They will not insure anything you have packed. Only what their movers did, so consider that when you pack. When I moved, I packed and moved all my good glass, etc. I didn't want to pay the money for them to do it, or have them break it.
