Communion is a somber and serious thing, but upon recieving I feel a sense of joy and blessing! Upon blessing by the pastor, Christ's body and blood are in, with, and through the bread and the wine.
How often communion is celebrated depends upon the local congregation. I've been in churches where it is the 1st Sunday only, 1st and 3rd Sunday, every Sunday, .... It all depends upon the elders and the pastor. How ever often I can recieve it, though, I partake of it.

Communion is celebrated directly and indirectly.
On weeks where there is not communion, the cup for the wine and chalice for the bread are on display in the front prominently as a reminder.
On weeks that there is, the bread (unManishevitz leavened kosher and broken crackers) are distributed and little cups (with grape juice and some with clear wine so people have a choice, are distributed(
Jesus is spiritually present in the communion and the bread and wine symbols. His death and resurection are proclaimed
The last supper of course was a Passover meal and the pasover represented freedom from the cruel bondage of slavery in Egypt. Jesus gave it new meaning and now represents freedom from sin through His death and resurection. "Christ is our Passover" 1 Corintians

I was raised Episcopalian, and while they are technically protestant, they have communion every week like Catholics (which I like). I also went to Catholic Jr. High School and liked it, though I don't think I would become a Catholic because they bar my brother from taking communion at his wife's church just because he had a 1st drug addict wife who divorced him.
I go to Lutheran Church now, and we get communion three lousy times a year!!! What's up with that! Even the Baptists do it more than that! What am I dragging my a*s out of bed for on a Sunday!

You should have wrote that, that quote is attributed to Jesus. Some people don't know about the whole divine mercy thing.
Anyways to answer your question I'm an atheist so I don't have communion. Here's a star.

We have what we call "The Sacrament". It is our communion. We use bread and water, not bread and wine. But a prayer is said over each and it is done every week.

communion is just an act of the last supper which God had with His disciples...and told them to "as oft as you do this in rememberence of me "
But let me ask ya'll how many of you say a blessing over your bread and drink at every meal ? and i will say to you..that to is communion with God and in as often as you do it..do it in rememberence of Him "
For He is God always..and everywhere..not just a God of or at a building with wafers and juice to remember Him !!!
