1 Tim 2:5
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
(KJV)

Obviously this scripture is not plain enough because people invoke Saints, Mary, Idols, Priests, and Popes to interceed to God on their behalf.

With a close study of the book of Hebrews it becomes abundantly clear that there is no one standing between God and man save Jesus Christ alone.

Isnt' going through another intercessor:

1. Vain
2. Insulting to Jesus Christ
3. A foolish and dangerous teaching of replacing the Son of God with some human idea?

Quailman -- again I ask you to study the book of Hebrews, then try to justify praying to anyone else to interceed other than Jesus.

Are you stupid? Jesus is only a few years old in comparison to the gods of other religions. It's intolerance like yours that causes hate and wars. God knows who he is and who is talking to him. He doesn't need you to be an advocate of His if you preach hate and stupidity.

I agree. That's why I scratch my head in disbelief when I hear about some Catholics (I said "some") thanking St. Jude for interceding on their behalf or to Mary or to whoever.

Why talk to a saint when you can talk to God directly? You're praying to God, not trying to get a job in Corporate America (in that case, you're going to have to talk to more than one person before you see the department head). When talking to the Almighty, He will never put you on hold or ignore you.

The person who asked this question proves a point. Isn't it a bit insulting to Christ when you're praying to someone else so that "someone else" can relay the message back to Him? It's just one of the anti-Christian ideas conceived by the old Catholic church, right up there with praying to relics, Purgatory, and the selling of indulgences.

I think we all can agree that Martin Luther had a point when he recognized the theological errors made by the Catholic church.

i don't know, truthfully i am irritated by how so many people need so huge an amount of already DEAD people to intervene for them in prayer to God. didn't Jesus die for us to be our "intervener"? (sorry can't think of the right word for it it's almost 4 am and i'm really tired haha)

i can only imagine how sickened God must feel to know His creation on earth are doing whack things to get attention from Him when it's all SO SIMPLE. just PRAY DIRECTLY TO GOD.

Well, its part of the "Catholic" system. Do you think praying to Mary really helps? Or sitting in a confessional with a priest, who tells you to "Do this and your sins will be forgiven?"

God is, if existent at all, very distant. Jesus was one of the many attempts of humanity to draw God closer by making him human. This happened so long ago, of course, that God appears distant again.

The "intercessory" prayer is yet another attempt to make God accessible.

i'll remember that next time i see a "please pray for my sick relative" request.

no one between God and man except Jesus doesn't mean there's no one between man and Jesus.

edit-
and again i respond- are you saying that asking "please pray for my sick relative" is going through an intercessor?
