Star Man -- the difference is you are asking a living person to pray for you about something. When addressing someone who has passed on you are praying to them. This is how it is typically prhased by those who practice such things.

Also, you present the most innocent answer. The truth is that the heart is deperately wicked and who can know it. Worship is Prayer. Prayer is Worship.

Did Jesus ever ask Moses or Elijah to interceed for Him? He is our example isn't He?

the apostles have asked people to pray with them and for them - same concept for those who believe that people are not 1) dead in the earth or 2) having a soul sleep. we Catholics believe as the scriptures dictate that those who have died in Christ as with Christ at this time. i talk to my mom in deep discussion asking for help - i'm not praying to her.....

I always consider prayer as a form of worship. That's why I find the idea of praying to saints to be blasphemy.

Prayer = Asking someone for something.
Worship= Acknowledging that someone is a Deity, and honoring them as that.

Catholics ask the saints to pray for them to god. If you consider that worship, then asking a friend to pray for you would be considered worship you, according to your logic.

the early modern English phrase "I pray you" is I ask of you. So to pray is to Ask ...
so to ask another Christian to pray for you is to pray them to pray for you or to Ask them to Ask God to _____

it has been declassified because Catholics want an excuse to behave blasphemously by worshipping dead people.
