Everytime I try and excercise I get out of breath easily and have pains in the middle of my chest. I am a young woman, non smoker and am a healthy weight?

I have a history of anorexia nervosa and in the past have abused ephedrine and phentermine .

I want to be able to run on treadmill etc without getting out of breath and in pain.

oh and i have given up on trying to get a GP appointment.

Get an appointment with your GP or a cardiologist. You might be suffering from HOCM (Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy) (pronounced: Hokem), which is an autosomal dominant inherited disease.

You really do need to see a doctor. I have a history of anorexia as well and I still get pains sometimes when I go for a run. But as with recovering from anorexia and having a family history of heart problems, you are very suseptible to having something wrong. You should make an appointment asap. Hopefully they can put you on some medication to help with the chest pain so you can run again.

I don't know what hokem is, but why take the chance.

I know it is a pain getting an appointment but persevere. if they really really won't help think about joining a new GP surgery. it could be asthma or something more serious - if you think getting to the gP is no fun think about being in hospital as an emegency!

Look with your history you must see a professional, you are obviously starting to get youself back on the straight but your past history does have an effect on how you do it.
I would ask to see one of the GP's practive nurses, they will listen and look after you, and usually they are much easier to get an appointment with. Follow it up... your on the right course.

When people starve themselves they cause all kinds of health problems including heart disease. You should see a cardiologist for a stress test and a few other tests to make sure that your heart is OK. Ephedrine can also cause heart problems.
