That's actually atheism. Atheism is simply the lack of believe in a god or gods. That's all there is to it.

More specifically, that is called weak atheism. Strong atheism is the outright denial of the existence of God. The problem is that a lot of theists do not understand this and assume that all atheists are strong atheists. But when you say someone is an atheist you should only assume weak atheism.

All atheists are weak atheists in that they do not believe in a god or gods, but not all atheists are strong atheists.

A person who isn't sure about the existence of god is an agnostic.

Also, religions are as concrete as we would all like to this. Sometimes I feel like a deists or liberal theists, at other times I feel like a strong atheist, but the best way to describe me would probably be agnostic.

Doesn't believe in gods = atheist.

Doesn't deny existence of gods = meaningless drivel.

It's called being agnostic. Technically, the definition of "atheist" is inclusive of agnostic, so you could also be considered an atheist.

My guess is that the atheist in question wants to avoid a lengthy discussion without giving offense.

That is agnosticism. Guatama the Buddha was a famous agnostic.

Someone who's not a fanatic and who feels they have nothing to prove. Someone who doesn't believe in cramming their beliefs down the throats of others.

Keep in mind that an Atheist can no more confirm the non-existence of 'god' than a Believer can confirm that 'god's' existence.

They both use faith to support their positions.
