Ambiguity and the unknown are the spice of life! There certainly is irony in that exchange...

No irony, because mankind doesn't know everything, nor does it have the capacity to know everything.

When you say that God created the universe, you are still left with the mystery of where God came from.

Why not skip that step in logic and just say that our creation is an unknowable mystery that religion does not answer satisfactorily.

Believing in the supernatural answers nothing; there is no empirical evidence for the supernatural.

Actually I don't see the irony, it's a perfect statement. That's what science is all about

As for church folks, there is no irony that can match the mystery how adults can believe that stuff.
