How many of each garment is issued? Also, do you need to pay for the uniform ahead of time? If so, how much does it cost?

I don't remember them making me pay for my uniforms at Basic, or taking it out of my check? I think that person is mistaken.... the only thing they take out of your check is the $250 they give you on a card to spend on supplies at the BX when you first get there. Otherwise, you don't pay for your clothing issues.

When I went through we got issued: 4 sets of BDUs, 2 pairs of boots, running shoes, low quarters, some brown tshirts, 2 S/S blues, 2 L/S blues, 2 pairs of blues trousers, 1 skirt, 1 lightweight jacket, 1 all weather coat, field jacket, BDU belt, blues belt, PT gear, 2 BDU hats, 1 flight cap, 1 service dress coat, socks (black ones for BDUs, thin black ones for blues, and white ones for PT). I think this is everything?

I know now they are issuing out the new uniforms, so you should get 4 sets of ABUs... and you don't get the old PT gear anymore, so you'll probably get the windsuit jacket/pants,and a couple pairs of shirts/shorts...

You will only get issued underwear if your a guy, girls do not get issued bras or underwear.

Yep, that website is correct. It does list EVERYTHING that they'll issue you! But here's the catch...IT'S NOT FREE!!! They take it out of YOUR pay. All you really need is underwear. And if you are a girl, get some cute cotton ones! A guy, well I think you need tighty whities or something. They should give you a list of the things you need to bring, but clothes aren't one of them. The thing that really sucks is they fit you for all of your uniforms, in like 2 minutes. I guarantee that some of the stuff will be too big or small...but hey- life goes on!
Really the only thing you'll be concerned about once you get there, is what they tell you to do...and even at that, it's not that bad.
But anyway, to answer your question, just have that basic list of things from your recruiter...and you'll go shopping for all the rest once you get there!

Most above are correct. You will get issued every uniform item you need.
You pay for them, In a way. As soon as you receive your issue, you will be given a form to sign for them. It states the value of all items issued. That amount is reported as income on your W-2 at the end of the year.
You will be required to purchase any personal items. Such as towels, toiletries, razors, etc.

You get your first set free. Don't worry about it, they'll tell you what you need. You will have bigger things to concern yourself with other than worrying about your wardrobe.
