I am Baptist, and considering converting to Byzantine Catholic (I was raised Baptist, but I go to a Byzantine Catholic Church every Sunday). I am about 98% sure that this is what I want. But a little part of me (2% lol) is afraid to let go of my old religion. Any advice for such a big change?

Thank you Geomatic7000, I was thinking the same exact thing about "realreligionhistorian". Obviously they need to read up on beliefs in religion. Thank you for your defense you obviously are a true Christian, one with a casring heart. :-)

Pray.

Try to listen to God about where he wants to be.

With love and prayers in Christ.

I was raised Pentecostal and I converted to Catholicism.

Just go to RCIA. If it is right for you, you will know. I felt the same way, even though I had become very upset with the Pentecostal church, it was hard to let go of over 2 decades of what I had been taught. But as I progressed through RCIA, I felt more and more at home. What you will find and I am sure you have already found, is that the basic beliefs are the same. They are just celebrated differently.

***realchurchhistorian: What are you on about? Both Baptists and Catholics accept Christ as their saviour. They do not worship false idols. Where did the asker say she had not accepted Christ? Where did she say she rejected Christ? Baptists and Catholics DO NOT reject Christ. What the heck?!?!

Pray from the bottom of your heart that Christ will give you the strength to be strong and follow Him. Sometimes it's hard for us to let go of things, especially something like a church you have been raised in and probably feel an attachment to, but that's where God comes in and He gives you that strength you need to make the sacrifice and give up your comforts to follow Him. He has already planted that seed of faith in your heart....if He can do that, He can surely give you the guidance, the patience and the strength you'll need for such a big change. May God be with you and may he guide you with love in your journey home. I will keep you in my prayers.

Too bad you never accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. Too bad you have chosen to worship idols instead of the living God.
Too bad you reject the words of Jesus Christ and fall into the following category:

Matt 15:7-9
7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
(KJV)
