The man I love is seventeen years my senior. We enjoy the same things, pretty much all of our likes/dislikes are the same as the other's. All in all, we get along very well. I want to be with him, but I'm sort of worried about what society might think about the age difference. We're from a place that has very old fashioned views about things.

Do you believe it is alright to date someone that is 17 years older? Both being of legal age of course. Should I just not care what people here think and be with him?

My husband is 15 years older than me. If you love each other and believe you have met your match, it does not matter what society believes...nothing matters but what YOU believe and how you make each other feel.

17 years is a lot. But a good relationship is hard to find.. so simplistic ideals such as age shouldn't get in the way of love.

Society will not be paying your bills, giving you companionship, nor keeping you warm on cold winter nights. So why are they worthy of such consideration from you? You get happiness where you find it.

Of course it is. Why care what others think if you're happy?
