okay so my best friend and i are going to get our belly buttons pierced soon. We are both 18 and seniors in high school. Our parents are anti piercings and tattoos, but we are just going to hide it from them. How we see it, we are legal and leaving for school next fall. And plus our parents are never at the pool with us. and by the time summer comes we should be healed and can take it out momentarily if we are around our parents.

so here are our questions:
1. Pros and cons
2. Health risks?
3. Best ways to hide them?
4. How long does it take to heal? My friend cheers and has competition soon.
5. do u think we should do it? we really like them!

thanks. I know its dumb we have to hide it from parents, but they are overly strict and conservative.

I got my belly button pierced when I was 18 and a senior in high school. My mom didn't approve, but I explained to her that I knew what to look for. I wouldn't suggest hiding it from your parents. What if it gets infected and you have to go to the doctors? Wouldn't your parents be even more angry if not only do they have to take you to the doctors, but you've also been hiding a piercing from them? Do the research first and explain why you want the piercing, and that you know what's clean. That aside:

1) Pros: it looks pretty cool, and i love having it. Cons: it takes a really long time to heal (3 months initially, 6 months untill you can change it) if it gets knocked around it hurts for a while, you have to clean it twice a day with antibacterial soap.

2) you can get an infection if you don't take care of it. if you don't go to a clean place you can end up with a slew of diseases like hepatitis or even hiv.

3) i suggest that you tell your parents. if you MUST hide it, just make sure you wear loose tops. mine isn't visible under most tops.

4) it varies, anywhere from 3-6 months and sometimes more. your friend might want to wait because cheering might bother it.

5) i personally love mine, and i don't regret doing it. initially my parents weren't thrilled that i did it, but i was honest and in the end they accepted my choice.

Pros: - It appears first-rate well on you, IF your tummy is tone or flat. - Looks even larger for the period of the Summer ;) - Imagine the types of stomach jewelry you'll be able to decide upon from! They're in order that lovely! - It's horny as hell - It's on an discipline that is effortless to cover out of your dad and mom (Unless you put on stomach shirts at dwelling then that is one other tale) - Doesn't harm in any respect. To me, it felt like a speedy pinch. (Whoever mentioned it hurts..jeez, who the heck pierced your stomach?) Cons: - If you're lazy and unsanitary, caring for it have to think like a chore to you. - You can get inflamed if you're no longer cautious. - Looks terrible on you in case you wouldn't have the frame for it That's all I can suppose of.

If you like them, get them.
There aren't any "health risks" ...
Just certain things you should be aware of like .. it might get infected but thats just a warning because most infections come from "home - made" piercings and tattoos.
Best way to hide them is to not show your belly :)
It takes about 1 to 2 months to heal.

I think you should do it !

Rebel .. Live .. :) Your 18 ! Whats stopping you?

no hiding it after it heals unless you where a whole piece be cause you will have holes lol but your skin can reject the piercing(it happens and it tears but heals fine),infections if not cared for,can catch onto things, rub against jeans cause irritation, looks great,no belly tops in front of them

I know your of age,but I would't do it. Their are health risks as infection or cancer. The healing would take some time as the wound heals from the inside out.

cons right now:
1) fear and pain of getting one
2) possibility of infection and Mrsa.
Pro:
it kind of looks cool
I wouldn't get one personally, though I am weighing the merits of getting my first tatoo^_^
