My hair is really fine/thin and mostly straight(well a LITTLE wavy). It's also thinning a little at the top(i'm a guy).

I'm considering getting dreads, would my hair be ok for it or would they come out thin and crappy?

Forgot to mention, my hair is long. Mid-back length.

Also i should mention i'm 19 and in college so i'm not trying to look professional. And this isn't a question on whether you like dreads or not, i'm just asking if my hair would make good dreads or not. If you think all dreads look bad, don't reply.

you can do it.. use grease to start it... then twist daily.

i've seen many granola's with dreads.

on thin straight hair get a dread perm or they will look crappy, it wont thin your hair anymore then having hair itself. check out dread aftercare, they should be washed, or they will rot off your head. just clarifying shampoo, not conditioners or they'll start slipping and the condition will get trapped inside, also causing it to rot. you can also get permanent dread extensions, theyre pricey, but you'll have wicked dreads.

I think you should leave that style alone. The weight of the dreads will pull your hair out even more. Try wearing your hair closely shaved.

if you get them get the proper ones like...where theyre plaited weirdly or something like that. not the ones where u just put on the wax and that theyre gross and u dnt wash ur hair. the others look ok cos u have to keep ur hair really clean

They'd look bad anyway. A girl in my school has them and she says she never showers. Dreadlocks are gross and i doubt anyone would like them.

Why would you want them? they look disgusting and greasy.. if you have a professional job, you would be throwing away any credibility you had. You would not look professional.
