Get an HD with either component or HDMI sockets one so you can watch Blu Ray discs.
LCD or plasma, it's up to you.

It'll work on any telly with scart. It'll, obviously, look better on a Hi-def one but don't feel you need to rush in and splash out on both at once.
Mind you, once you do get one, a nagging voice in the back of your head will keep telling you to buy a new telly. (I've been suppressing mine till the new year, when, hopefully, i'll be able to afford it)

You are in for a good time buying a next gen console but r u sure the ps3 is for you it seems to be struggling at the moment I would recommend an xbox 360.
As for the television don,t go mad as long as you have one which can display at 1080i thats cool remember sometimes you are paying for the name.

People who say you need a brilliant tv for ps3 to work are lying! I have a tv that is over 10 years old and I connected that up to my ps3 and it works fine!

I would recommend getting a new up-to-date television. This way you will be able to appreciate the quality graphics that the PS3 offers.

it will work on a standard definition TV and you will still notice the better graphics. It doesn't have to be a HDTV it's just better on one.
