In one of our youth group meetings we discussed how we should be happy that Jesus died for our sins and gave us the gift of salvation, but when I think about that I feel sad and unworthy. Knowing that someone went through that because of me makes me feel AWFUL about myself knowing that I received something I will never deserve. Is there something wrong with the way I think? Please no answers about how Jesus doesn't exist or that the church is brainwashing people, etc.

If Jesus is God, he really didn't die now did he?

God could make him come back to life if he wanted. It was only a temporary illusion (or transitory state). He really didn't die.

There is nothing wrong with your thinking. There is no one deserving the gift of salvation because we all are sinners.
If we were not, we would be here. We are here to work on our righteousness and self mastery. The bible says there is no greater deed than to give your life for someone else. Jesus did not want to die, but was obedient to his father. It was the only way that the hold on us by darkness could be eliminated.
We were trapped and not able to enter into the kingdom of heaven before this happened to Yeshua/ Jesus. You are only deserving because you are a child of God. Gos wishes that none should parish. Feeling awful about yourself is only a spoon of satan's thoughts trying to get you to hate yourself.
I have cried watching many films about the death of Jesus because of my Love for him. He wants you to Love yourself and work on those things that would be considered sinful.
You know right from wrong. Seek first the kingdom of God and mastery over temptations to do the wrong thing.
Be glad that Jesus gave his life so we also may reenter into our heavenly home.

Everyone is unworthy that is the point, but if you are forgiven of all your sin, you should feel grateful and not sad, because the punishement that you deserve will be put on Jesus and will be paid in full. If you don't like feeling guilty then you can always reject his sacrifice, and receive eternity in hell instead, but that is up to you to decide.

Try to remember that Jesus made a choice. He chose to go through what he went through. He knew what he was doing and he knew more about what it would mean than you or I could ever know. If you can understand that he may just be more intelligent than we are and may just have a better grasp on the entire situation than we do then you can learn to be comfortable in His love and not worry that he made some kind of mistake in choosing the means of salvation for his children.

You need to go deeper into the truth. Why are you unworthy, is it because of your actions? Did you do worse than Paul? Paul endorsed the killing of christians. But yet Jesus took him and made him an apostle.

What makes all of us sinners? Adam. When he sinned, sin nature came into all of mankind. Jesus died for this, as well as for what we have done.

We need to separate what we did from why we sinned.

It is a very sad thing that Jesus went through for us. The sacrifice that He made for us was far beyond our comprehension. It is something that we have to accept and be grateful for because otherwise we would all be in hell today! I wouldn't say you should be happy but grateful. Isaiah said "it pleased the Lord to bruise Him". That was not something that God the Father laughed and jumped for joy about, but He saw beyond that and realized that mankind needed a savior from their sinful state and that this was the only way to accomplish it.
At this point we need to acknowledge His sacrifice, accept it and move on to the work that we have been called to. To go into all the world and preach the gospel, giving them the opportunity to accept this precious sacrifice before it is too late and the sacrifice that Jesus made for them would be unclaimed!

You are not confused, you are right on. It is good that Jesus died for us but it also means we are very much sinners and that should motivate us to be better Christians, to really pick up our Cross and follow him Daily. Being a Christian is a daily thing, not just on Sundays and Wednesdays. Each and everyday no matter where we are at we should be a light for Jesus Christ. God Bless You and good luck on your Journey as a Christian.

No. There is nothing wrong with the way because you are a normal human being. But remember Jesus did all that for us; he carried the heavy cross upon his shoulders for our sins. He wants us to be free from sins; therefore if God can forgive your sins, you have to first learn to forgive yourself. Forgive yourself for thinking that you are unworthy and awful. If God can forgive you, then you should forgive yourself. God is greater than us, if he can forgive us, then we have to learn and try to forgive yourself. Continue walking with God and love him till the end of the days. Be the light of the world and salt of the earth. Be a blessing to the people and shine for God throughout your days and walk faithfully, obediently, and love him wholeheartedly and seek him first the kingdom of God.

Well my real mother dying makes me sad, my step brother downing makes me sad. My best fried dying last year makes me sad. Having had a girlfriend die made me sad. When my 18 year old first cousin died I was sad.

I've never met Jesus, he suffered only a short time and is now in "Heaven". So I do not feel effected by someone who died 2,000 years ago.

Comfort yourself. Only His body died. He was given a glorified body. HIs Spirit lives! He made you worthy. Now be a good Christian. Sin no more, because every sin we commit goes back into time adding to His misery and pain.
