If I am honest, immigration, 'en masse', is happening all to quickly and frankly I think people get scared as a result. People have a right to love their country and grow up with pride and passion for it. I find that all rather difficult when the face of British life is changing every day and we all wonder if life will ever be the same. I can't blame the immigrants ... they have a window of opportunity but there must be consideration for the British people that are giving it to them, Only an effective government can do that and they need therefore to listen to the British people and their heartfelt concerns. More and more, I find I pass my days listening to people who speak in other languages on the streets .... this is not Britain any more and people can be expected to resent that without fearing that they are labelled racialist. The whole thing is unilateral ... we could not so the same in their countries with the same ease.

Immigrant?... you mean those that *legally* come to this country? Well integrate is what they need to do, as immigrants have always done in this country... They become Americans and adopt our life style. If they don't wish to do that they can stay away... there would really be no point in coming here. As to those that illegally cross our borders and refuse even the basic learning of our language... they should forcibly be made to return home...

do you mean legal or illegal? immigrants are integrating themselves for the most part as they know it's the key to bettering themselves and self reliance. illegals are a different story as most of them only have an elementary school education that would make them by most society's standards not literate even in their country of origin so how could they integrate here in the U.S. with that being said they will always be a drain on the U.S. economy. just a little realism. immigrants are fine as most have the ability and desire to better themselves, illegals need to be deported or go back home themselves.

Some of my ancestors were French immigrants - back in the 15thC;
my husband's grandfather came here as a Russian refugee (aged 9); husband's family, a few generations back were Portuguese.
Somewhere I have Scandinavian DNA and going back around 17,000 years, my DNA reckons the ancestors came from somewhere East of where Moscow is now. Clan Mother called "Una".
I wonder how many of the people on YA are pure Celts?
I hope we have contributed something to England - I love this Country; I guess we're well integrated.

If the immigrant is a LEGAL IMMIGRANT he or she should assimilate with the United States. We as U.S. citizens should not have to bend over backwards to please them. You want to be an American? Then live and obey our laws not whatever laws you are trying to escape from. Learn our language; English!
If you are Not Legal, then you are just an alien and do not belong here, Period! You should NOT be afforded the rights and freedoms of our U.S. Constitution afforded Legal U.S. Citizens born here and those who have come here Legally.
You are not, and should not be entitled to free health care, free welfare, social security cards, drivers licenses, rights to vote, or any other right.
You are entitled to a jail cell and deportation to your own country.
Listen, if the first thing you do when coming to our country is brake the laws of our country, no mater how trivial YOU think they may be, then you are a CRIMINAL! You are not an immigrant you are an illegal alien. Unfortunately we have enough of our own criminals in this country, we do not need the criminals of other countries coming into the United States of America!
I think if the United States takes away all the benifits (freebies) of this country you will start to see the illegals to slow down. They only flee their countries because of what they can get from the U.S.
And another thing, DO NOT GIVE AUTOMATIC CITIZENSHIP to children of illegal alians who happen to be born here while their parents just happend to be pregnant in OUR country illegally! If that is not their biggest scam in the history of the world. After that the alien claims the have to be made citizens because their child is a U.S. citizen, and you just can't seperate the parents from the children. In that case, send the child home with the alien to live in his real native country.
In closing, IF YOU ARE NOT LEGAL, YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE, GO HOME. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO COME INTO OUR COUNTRY LEGALLY, STAY HOME IN YOUR OWN COUNTRY, WE DON'T WANT YOU!

Until Mexico takes care of its own people, Mexico will continue to slump to the bottom. If we accept their poor.. we will become poor ourselves. This is an excellent piece written by a member of another board followed by an excellent examination of the issue. Please... read them.
======================

The North American Union serves to mirror the effects of the European Union in this part of the world. Illegal Immigration reflects the failure of Mexico to generalize the benefits of free trade to benefit the full population and create economic opportunity.
But, of course, Illegal Immigration IS Mexico's most lucrative export. These folks don't show up here to become american citizens. That was NEVER the point. What they do is soak up the available jobs while they congregate in closed communities to conserve cash they can send home to support their cottage industries and secure a better life in retirement when they return HOME!! Meanwhile, they avail themselves illegitimately of social services, education and health benefits that are more lucrative than they could ever hope to obtain at HOME. Mexico benefits from this as their biggest source of foreign reserves, far outpacing the ability for their dwindling oil supply to provide, while exporting a significant portion of their poverty to the US.
The US receives from this a body of individuals who feel that corruption is a legitimate alternative to following the law. We find that a whole network of illegal activity in stealing identies and transporting illegals throughout the country is being supported.
There is absolutely no activity on the part of these individuals to become integrated into the society as a whole. This is the reason they don't really bother learning the language as our forefathers chose to do when they bought one-way tickets to america.
Our liberal friends don't want to focus on the increased crime that has resulted, the drain this places on our domestic resources or the fact that, in truth ,these individuals serve to hold down wages in the sector of the economy most depended upon by the less advantaged segment of our legitimate population for gainful employment. This benefits the liberal agenda of keeping the "poor" dependent upon the government and provides them a built in base of voters who will vote their pocketbooks in favor of any party that will claim to be for sustaining their ability to depend on others for their livelihood.

Well as far as the U.S. is concerned, we might as well annex Mexico. Think of it, if we did there would be much less area to against as far as land borders. We could fix there system to where they wont want to move north for jobs. Just stop and think..yeah there would be problems at first but it would slowly fix itself right to where all would be satisfied in the end. The current system doesn't work cause there is to much land to cover, there are way too many people willing to be paid to sneak them over, and instead of a trickle effect which is what the government prefers, we are flooded with immigrants that can hurt the fragile economic system we have.

If immigration could be better controlled, allowing those people who have arranged employment in the UK to enter, then I would prefer to see integration taking place. People of different faiths should be allowed to live together and thus avoid unhealthy segration.

we really need them to stay away, as they are now not intregating and they are damaging the economy,by doing the low paid jobs and claiming benefits for families that are still where ever,, oooooh yes they are now allowed to claim family tax credits from this country and are sending the money back to support there families,, so our economy is devaluing all the time and my tax is paying for the benefits .. so time to put a stop to all the immigrants, shut the doors and start sending some home and how many crimes are now commited by illegals in this country,,? much better if they stay away

Better start acknowledging and appreciating the difference among those who come here and add to the prosperity and those who drain the economy as well as ruin the quality of life by becoming criminals or by other religious agendas. If u just want to be anti every one than u will drive the goodies in to the baddies camp too. That will be a blunder.
