Why or why not? How long can be considered one session?

Am basically looking for a cost effective way to satisfy this : 'Do 45 to 60 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio exercise (walking, biking, swimming, or elliptical machine) 3 to 5 times a week, and follow a healthy diet.' Its the cardio part of another exersise program that uses a resistance band

Hi
Absolutely.

Every minute you skip, you burn 22 Calories on an average.

Every 10 min = 220 C.

If you could do it for 15-20min a day it is a fantastic exercise.

But depends on how fit you are.

Take it easy, you could do it 1-2 min at a time and increase the number of sets.

SKIP or JUMP to leaner and fitter YOU.

Takecare.

Any exercise where you're heart's pumping fast, your breathing's much faster than usual, and your muscles getting tired? That's cardio... I know from experience that if you do jump rope well enough/fast enough, and for long enough, all of the above will most definitely occur. So, yes, jumping rope is cardio (as long as your "session" is, in fact, long enough). For a jump rope session to be considered long enough/strenuous enough to be considered cardio, I guess it would have to be over 10 mins, with moving that rope as fast as you can, or at least to a constant rythym/beat... perhaps listen to some music (like I have) with a steady beat that can keep you moving along with it, that would be ideal to keep the momentum going, and move the simple exercise into the 'cardio realm'.

Take care.

Absolutely. Jumping rope is a great aerobic exercise great for conditioning the heart. I'd say if you maintain jumping rope for 10 minutes then that would be an excellent workout... in addition to weight training of course and walking and taking stairs.

The great thing about jumping rope is that it doesn't cost anything... just get a jump rope and jump anywhere!

Yes it raises your heart rate and respiration that's what a cardo workout does. I know I've been in cardiac rehab for 7 years.

Very much so... You're using upper body, lower body... and you just try doing it for 15 minutes without stopping.... lol...
do it on a softer surface... like a wood floor.... and have good shoes... the concrete can mess with your joints.
