That is why Christians should stay away from alcohol if they want to live for Jesus. We live in a world where the water is safe to drink, here in the U.S anyway and modern science has improved the knowledge of doctors many times so the excuse Christians use when Paul told Timothy to take a little wine for stomachs sake is not a valid argument for Christians to use to justify drinking.

The bible says to abstain from all appearance of evil 1thess.5:22 and this means for the modern Christian that has much more benefits of science than primitive Christians did that they should stay away from drinking alcohol. the story of Timothy is proof that a young preacher of fire for God was so concerned about sin that he would not take his medicine. Paul had to tell him it was okay to take his medicine.

Your "hear" (whatever that means), when you should be reading the Bible yourself.

It is possible to drink alcoholic beverages without getting drunk. Som people, because of their constitution, can handle more alcohol than others. This does not change the fact all people, when consuming alcoholic beverages, must drink in moderation.

It is possible to consume alcohol and never get drunk. Most people, as you suggest, get drunk at least once before learning how to moderate. Either way, the fact that is it morally proper to drink in moderation hasn't changed.

I disagree.

I know many people who drink moderately and have never gotten drunk before.

Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, ... (John 2:7-9)

Wine is used throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The first recorded miracle of Jesus was to turn water in wine at the wedding in Cana.

It is true that we should not become drunk but used in moderation, wine is a biblically acceptable beverage.

Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because it is now that God favors your works. (Ecclesiastes 9:7)

What would Jesus do? Jesus had a cup of wine with dinner.

If some people wish to totally forego alcohol to eliminate the temptation to over indulge, that's fine. But I don't think they should force that unbiblical practice onto others.

With love in Christ.

The Bible does not say 'no drunkenness', it does teach not to "be" a drunkard. It was Jesus who turned the water into wine for those who were already drunk. To get drunk is not necessarily a sin. You can make it into a sin. Some denominations choose not to drink at all. There is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong with drinking, even to the point of drunkenness on occasion. But, to get drunk each time you are around booze- then you have a problem.

Who do you want to live for? God or Yourself? Who Do you love most? And what is motivating you to get drunk. The thief (Devil) comes to steal kill and destroy.God came that you might have life and that more abundantly. Don't Get lost in drinking but get lost In Christ Jesus.

untrue.drinking one glass of wine with a meal doesn't make most adults drunk.drinking is not the sin, getting drunk is the sin.Jesus and his disciples drank wine but i don't believe they over indulged.also if you are drunk it's the things you say and do,that usually perpetuate sins.

All (any) alcohol is anathema to God. I don't drink it at all. Even what is called "moderation" is man's point of view -- not God's. It's been scientifically proven that even a drop of alcohol kills brain cells. Your body is supposed to be the temple of the Holy Spirit. Killing yourself, however slowly, is destroying that temple -- therefore, sin. Same for smoking, drugs, and all animal sources.
